Have just spent 6 nights in this hotel with a group. I couldn't fault it.
The staff could not have been more friendly.
the food was excellent.
It was clean, comfortable and welcoming.
I highly recommend this hotel, its staff, its owner - everything about it.

This hotel is brilliant. Christine and her team look after your every need. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and plentiful. It is difficult not to gain weight during a stay! This was the fifth time I have stayed here and would not use any other hotel by choice. I highly recommend it.

we chose this hotel from reading the reviews on trip adviser the food was given the thumbs up also the hotel st saveur where we have stayed before and i have reviewed was the same 3 stars and was £200 per person more expensive also as my reviews will have stated the rooms small and dark decor gives a slight depressed feeling
on arrival christine the manager greeted us as we stepped down form the tangney tours bus.
smiling and welcoming
the hotel is situated a little further from the grotto the front of the hotel looks over to the gave and in the background behind the hotels opposite you can see the snow topped mountains
we were accompanied to reception the area was light and spacious there was a bar towards the the back of the hotel which was clean and nicely furnished there was only one high window but there was seating towards the front of the hotel that overlooked the hotel in a nicely seated area also there were a few tables outside the front of the hotel.
the areas were spotlessly clean and furnished nicely.
there was a downstairs WC with also a disabled toilette
there was one lift situated across from reception. the entrance area to the hotel was suitable for wheelchair access.
our room was on the third floor we had a view out the front over the gave
The bedroom was spacious and decor was light and airy a contrast with st saveur. As you walked into the bedroom the toilet was opposite the room door then to the right was a big double wardroom with sliding door(built in cupboard) then next to this was the bathroom that had a bath a shower which was hooked next to the bath tap to shower you would need to stand and hold the shower head as there is no hook high but this was not a problem to us. the shower curtain was good as it kept the water from falling on the floor
there was a bidet in the bathroom and a sink which had ample lighting over it. there was a shaving point (electric). the bathroom was nicely tiled and we had fresh towels everyday even though we hung them up each time after use to save on the hotel laundry we were greatful for the clean towels however it was a nice touch.
the bedroom had 2 single beds they were for me and my husband very comfortable but bed comfort is a personal preference what is comfortable for some is not for another.
we had an extra pillow and blanket available in the wardrobe provided should we need it
There was adequate space to walk round the beds and not be rubbing against the walls i.e plenty of room.there was a bedside table beside each bed and space to stand your suitcase in the corner out the way.
there was a dressing table and mirror which was of good size.
the room had adequate lighting with switched beside the bed within easy reach.
the bedroom was very light and airy . we had an electric wall heather one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom easy to turn up or down. we were warm enough.
Hot water in the bathroom was plentiful.
Our room was comfortable and we never was disturbed by noise either from within the hotel or from outside. There was a tv in the room .

The room did not have a safe for valuables however we put out valuables into a plastic bag and the reception staff put it in there safe we paid 5 euros for this service. we were given a piece of paper with our room number and name which we presented when we needed to get something they gave us the bag and we took out what we needed and gave them the bag back
the bag was labeld with our name and room number on and everything was perfectly safe.

the reasturant was on the next floor up from reception. a lift as i say was available.
the reastaurant was lovley the room overlooked the gave we had a table allocated to us for our stay.
the restaurant decor was light and fresh. there was ample room between the tables.
breakfast was croissants jams butter natural yoghurts french bread chesse ham and fruit . cereal was like our cornflakes and drinks from the vending machine.
lunch was a 3 course meal and evening meal was a 4 course meal.
we had a picnic most days which was wonderful and adequate for our needs. we just mentioned it the evening before at reception and said what time we would need it by
the food was to say the least was fantastic and i dont say that unless i mean it.
my husband was vegetarian no meat no fish
i was just no fish.
the menu was different for each meal we had in the restaurant.
the started was soup and it was home made made with fresh vegetables.. the french stick bread was nothing like you can buy here. the flavour in france of these french stix are wonderful. so flavoursome.
we were never served with the same menu the chef took pride in his cooking and it showed.
we had foods we had never even tried before pumpkin and potatoe soup
a quiche that has leeks
we had flageolette beans (like small kidney beans )
i came back home with some new ideas for foods i like to try and reproduce
i spoke to one lady at the hotel and she had stayed at a few of the other hotels and she said the food hear was the best she had ever had.

the sweet courses were different and never the same she said unlike at the other hotels which either didnt serve a sweet course or just had icecream as the option. i cannot enthuse enough about the wonderful food served at hotel st george

we were in lourdes for easter week for 7 days. when we left for the airport chrisitne and the reecptionist both came to wave us off which was truely heartfelt.

things to do in lourdes well i wont mention the obvious
i will mention that there is a cycle track which we walked along for about 7 km we past lovley places saw donkeys and its a nice walk along the track.

there is the funiculare train that runs up to the top of the pic du jeur mountain it costs 10 euros to go up and down in total.
we went up for 7.50 euros and walked down it took us one and a half hours.

the trip tp givarnie is beutiful.
it take about an hours coach ride to get there you can have time to shop or have a coffee or walk along the side of the river on the path towards the cirque /waterfall. there isnt enough time to make the complete walk to the waterfall but the valley is stunning

we walked to batres to the sheep fold on 3 occasions
there is a quiet walk the tour rep can give you directions.
the sheep fold is so lovley so quiet we lay down on the warm grass after our picnic and gazed up at the clouds in the blue sky with the sun shining down on our faces listening to the gentle rustle of leaves the song of birds and the chatter of a woodpecker. in the background the distant clanking of a cowbell as you almost imagine yourself back in time of bernadette.
batres has a lovely church and here there are relics of st bernadette which can be venerated(kissed)during a mass in the church.
nearby to the church is a lovely place for a pot of tea its next to the gift shop its not the one thats directly across from the church i think that one is called the little boulangere
its the other one to the left of the gift shop as you face the shop
we had a pot of tea for one and a cup of coffee and it was 5 euros

the other place to mention in lourdes is the museum which is just down past the stop for the petite train on the right hand side
its free to enter and has things about bernadettes life its well worth a visit and we have been to lourdes several times and never noticed this museum
there are a lot of poeple who beg in lourdes i asked the rep are these really poor she sed no they are romany gypsies and in the evening they get picked up in very expensive cars
the children are sent out to beg
please i only add this information not because i am judging others but i will gladly help those who are truely poor by giving to the church who can see it gets to the poor

Room Tip: view our over the river and mountains

I have stayed in this hotel several times and always found it clean and comfortable. I ask for the same room which is quite large with bathroom and separate toilet. Quite basic but with 3 good meals a day. The owner has good English and I am so pleased the hotel was able to open after the devastating floods in June.

This is the hotel I would like to return to when staying at Lourdes. I was pleasantly surprised at how much great food there was. In fact; my friend and I had eaten a large lunch at a restaurant during the first day there; and we were not aware of the evening meal at the hotel. Needlessly to say; I could hardly fit the whole four courses in! The next day; we ate lightly during the day to make room for the meal at night at the hotel. I also like the view out to the river from the window. It is situated right next to the river. I found it a comfortable stay. As with all accommodation; I do not go for the accommodation only, so I do tend to go for something not too elaborate. I plan to stay there next time in Lourdes which will be another couple of years from now as I am very happy with the hotel. The date that I visited is not included in the cheque box but I wanted to give a review of this hotel.

We stayed one night in a triple room. Three single beds, generally comfortable although the pillows were too small. The place is quite basic, but decent. It was clean. Wifi worked only intermittently. There was only one power point in the whole room. The bathroom was prone to flooding from the bathtub for some reason. Breakfast (extra charge at €8.50pp per night) was okay, with a nice view of the Gave from the breakfast room. The lady running the place was very pleasant. Location is near enough to the Sanctuaries, about a 5-10 minute walk away.
