The welcome we recieved was amazing. The first night we ate as a couple and they organised and created a beautifully romantic meal. The second night was a fantastic evening which ran into the early hours with the other guests. Chris and Nico worked so hard and have a great eye for beautiful things. Their style is very modern with tradition and comfort to inspire. I came home with lots of ideas for my home. Nico is passionate about his food and creates delicious meals. Chris is warm and inviting and they make a great team.

We were very privelidged to make dinner for you in our romantic little diningroom ! It's not usual that we leave our guests alone during dinner , but in this case it was a pleasure to do so !

We had a very enjoyable stay at La Maison au Puits this summer. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with tourist information. We really appreciated being able to rest and watch the Olympics on the big screen with a beer after a full day of touring. The room we had was clean and nicely decorated. We were travelling with our 8 year old son and appreciated the family room set up where he could go to sleep earlier without putting us in the dark. We also enjoyed a dinner prepared by Nico under the stars with the other guests. The food was great as was the international company. The wifi connection was good too.

There is not much you can say about the accommodation & hospitality at Maison au Puits, except WOW! Christianne & Nico are wonderful hosts, with nothing too much trouble. They share their table with you in the evening & provide the most splendid food beautifully prepared & served. We enjoyed the company of fellow travellers all happy to enjoy a chat over fine food & wine.

Arrived with friends after a couple of disappointing stops elsewhere, hoping for something better... we were not disappointed. Even though Christianne was away in NL, Nico did the honours, perfect welcome, spotless room, even changed the proposed dinner menu because we were fed up with duck... cooked a fine 3 course meal for 6 guests, 24 euros a head, provided some good local wines, produced a better-than-usual breakfast, sent us away believing in hospitality again. Beware outdated GPS directions which try to send you the wrong way down a one way street (rue des tanneries) - turn right in Cabannes down the D30 and it's on the right.

Cordes-sur-ciel seems like a dream to me now. I sit looking out the window at the city lights and the cars whooshing by below our apartment and La Maison au Puits seems another planet, already, and it has been scarcely two weeks.
We planned to use Cordes as a base for exploring the area and indeed we may do that next time. This time we were completely smitten by Cordes and La Maison.

It was a bit if a challenge to find with the GPS as noted in other reviews but not excessively difficult. The Maison is located at the base of the hill a half hour walk up the hill from the village. Once the car was safely parked in the lot down the street we did not need it until we left.

The room was perfect for our family, Mom and Dad and two of our three adult children. A separate room (no door separating them) but that was OK for the two nights we were there. The room and bath very nicely updated. Clean and beautifully decorated.
We arrived after driving 3.5 hours across country from the airport in Montpellier to a sunlit afternoon and a beer in the garden outside under the grape arbors laden with fruit.
Dinner was served by Chris and Nico family style to ten guests in the dining room and was a delight. Next morning after a sound sleep we were treated to a full omelet breakfast to prepare us for a day walking around Corde-sur-Ciel a delightful Cathar village atop the hill.
Chris and Nico recommended a restaurant in the village which has a delightful view across the countryside.
We returned for another delightful dinner with our newfound friends from various parts of Europe and a sound sleep thanks to the fresh air and exercise of the day. The breakfast the following morning prepared us well to continue our journey.

Chris and Nico are a delight. La Maison au Puit is a home away from home and a perfect base to explore the area. We will be back to finish that. Thanks to Chris and Nico. Job well done. They continually surprised us with their energy and inventiveness.

I have just returned from spending 3 nights at this lovely place. It's not the easiest to find if you are following the GPS, but don't let that put you off. It's a real discovery in the truest sense and I must shout it from the rooftops of the little village, Les Cabannes where it is situated at the foothills of historic Cordes-Sur-Ciel - a worthy destination in itself. I was so pleased we weren't staying in the citadel - far better to make the short drive up to the town from the lovely Maison au Puits. 'Puits' means well in French and sure enough there is one in the house - and everything was done so WELL !!!

We were warmly welcomed by Christianne and Nico - our lovely hosts, who from the Netherlands originally, speak four languages !!!! Tired as we were from travel - it was a fantastic place to rest (the rooms are comfortable and clean) - the ambience they have created, with interesting objects and antiques peppered around the house - made it feel refreshingly individual and full of character. As for the food - this is so much more than your normal B+B - breakfast was a wonderful start to each day - all prepared by Nico - soft boiled eggs, ham and local cheeses - croissants and freshly cooked omelette, yoghurts, juices and proper coffee + tea - and that was just breakfast !! As for dinner - DO eat here - our first night we stayed for supper - and were gobsmacked to gobble a delicious three course dinner - equal to any restaurant in the region. Fantastic food - prepared by Nico (who's father was a chef) - and great local Gaillac wine to accompany his inventive and excellent dishes. Suffice it to say we ate there every night and didn't want to dine anywhere else. How could you do better than hand made ravioli for starters ?

This place is a real find - charming on the outside - and equally as charming on the inside - thanks to the hosts and the company within. It's to the credit of Christianne and Nico - that they have made an environment where the world meets happily around their dining table. It was a convivial feeling that simply added another dimension to the landscape of this fascinating part of France. Do stop here - we didn't want to leave - what more can I say.....

Spent two nights exploring Cordes-Sur-Ciel and stayed at the La Maison au Puits. I would highly recommend this B and B. The rooms are clean and neat, nicley furnished, and refreshing. The breakfasts were ample and very good, but the dinners, which were an add-on, were superb. Nico is an excellent cook and the meals reflected his love for the art of cooking. They gave suggestions on exploring the surrounding area which was very much appreciated. All in all, great hosts and a wonderful stay.
