“Medieval Bridge”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

Great opportunity to walk across a cobbled bridge, look through arrow slits, see great reflections in the river, admire a 700 yr old amazing structure and see the devil's bottom. (There is a single sculpture high on one tower of a little naked devil.

“Best seen from the river”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

You had best walk to the bridge - parking anywhere around the town is very difficult! It's a beautiful, well maintained old stone bridge, but much like thousands of others in France! See it from the river on a cruise boat to appreciate the scale.

Hello and thank you for your advice,
The Valentré Brige is "like thousands of others in France" ? This is one of the best preserved medieval bridges in France and there are very few such. It was built durint the XIVth century.
So we think this is a bit exaggerated to write this bridge is not unique, because it is really unique ;)
See you soon.
Romain.

“Medieval Bridge on the Lot”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

A historic and well preserved medieval defensive bridge into the town of Cahors. Picturesque.
Downstream on the right hand side is the ancient water-source of the the Fountain of Divona. (or Charteuse) . Water flows copiously from an underground river, and a narrow road spans where it enters the river Lot.
All in all very photogenic. The immediate town-scape nearby is boring, because the true ancient town is way over to the east and the fields and market gardens between the old town and the Pont Valentré have been built over with houses and the railway - pity really.

Lovely views from the river side. Even better in the winter with massive amount of water running under it.

“Beautiful bridge”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

One of my favourite things about this city is the bridge! Worth the visit. If you cross the bridge (heading away from the city centre) you can find a path that goes up the mountain and leads to Croix Magné. At the top you can see all of Cahors and the entire bridge. It's great!
