“Charming, well equipped, comfortable”

The gite is part of an old farm and decorated in a simple and appropriate style. It also has all the equipment to make our stay comfortable and practical- wifi, cooking equipment, laundry, and two fantastically huge bedrooms, one with bath and one with shower. Large and comfortable beds. Outside is a large private garden area leading into fields, and most importantly a large heated pool. The pictures and website give a good impression

The hosts, Danielle and Jean Marc, were delightful and helpful when we needed them.

The surroundings are rollypoly rural, but within 10 minutes by car you reach all shops at the edge of Albi. There were 2 of us and we stayed in the smaller l'Amandier. Only small quibble is that being slightly old and creaky we found the stairs slightly steep and narrow.

The Tarn is relatively unspoilt and offers a variety of natural landscapes and interesting museums about local life and industries (though may be shut outside main summer months) as well as the historic city of Albi

“A perfect place to stay for rural tranquillity”

La Maison de l'Amandier is a converted farm building, the original being some 300 years old. The renovation has been done with considerable taste and the interior décor is simple and charming. There are two bedrooms on the upper floor: a large one with en suite bathroom, and a slightly smaller one with en suite shower. On the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen and living area with a small utility area and toilet. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped - one really can make almost any kind of meal here - and the gite has everything that one needs to be comfortable, including dishwasher, washing machine, and a good fridge freezer. The lower floor is built into the side of the sloping site and therefore keeps cool even in the heat of summer - this being the south of France, the heat of summer is likely to be well over 30 degrees. Outside to the rear there is a private dining area under shade, with a barbecue. The garden for the gite is private and slopes down through mature trees to a small lake.

There is another slightly larger but equally beautifully appointed gite next door: these two gites have separate gardens but share the swimming pool area. The pool is a delight, with lovely views of the adjacent farmland, and our children enjoyed a swim there every day.

The owners, Danielle and Jean-Marc, were perfect: extremely kind and helpful, with exquisite tact and good manners. One example: before we arrived we had indicated that we were bringing our bikes and hoping to do some family cycle rides to find that Danielle had specially obtained a collection of local routes that were perfect for us.

The surrounding area is full of history: Albi itself, Moissac Abbey, Toulouse - the real centre of the Albigensian Crusades, and the bastides of the Tarn valley and its tributaries. For those who enjoy the countryside there are the hills of the upper Tarn, the Canal du Midi, and the vineyards of Gaillac (Domaine de Brin especially recommended).

Overall, this was the perfect place to stay for a very restful couple of weeks and we would recommend it strongly.

“The perfect sister to La Vieille Maresque if you are looking for a larger group.”

This is their second fabulously renovated gite which we have stayed in as we were next door for a week at the larger La Vieille Maresque which had 3 bedrooms as our 3 sons were with us and we moved across when they left to L' Amandier which has two bedrooms both gites also has extra beds in some rooms to accommodate a few more guests as they are very spacious. Perfect for an extended family holiday or larger group.
It is cozier and has an easier access to a lovely outdoor area as it's on ground level.
The ground level has lower beams so you might have to duck if you are too tall!

Like the larger gite every consideration given to what a guest would need and want.
Again the photographs do not do it justice on the website. Beautifully appointed pool with uninterrupted views.
The renovation has taken character, style, space and comfort into a well designed home. There is great bedding and linen, a well fitted kitchen with nice crockery, pots and pans!
Essential supplies provided in kitchen and laundry and cleaning materials. Great wi fi.

Great location to be based for exploring the Tarn area close to Albi.

Grand merci pour votre avis! C'est vrai qu'il n'y a pas la fibre même à 5 mn d'Albi, mais nous allons prendre un accès satellite pour combattre ce réseau "campagnard"!
