Just steps away from the Albi Cathedral (St. Cecile), this museum has both small and large works from all periods of Toulouse-Lautrec's life. For any former art students, it's thrilling to see the originals of so many familiar works of art. Even people who have never taken an art class in their lives will recognize some of the Moulin Rouge posters.

Well worth the time and visit........quite outstandingly renovated ; the exposition is facinating , and was helped well with the guardiens of the museum , who were very helpful.
l would suggest getting the ticket for the second exposition, which will cost only a couple of extra euros.
The tickets are valid for the whole day so you can leave and come back later.
Well worth the trip

The museum is and should be the main tourist site in Albi. Toulouse-Lautrec's life and work is worth exploration. I recommend the audio guide. Beware the crowds, especially as the museum has several internal passages that create "pinch points" where crowding can occur. In the 1920's when Paris snubbed their nose at T-L's work for a museum, Albi was very smart to take it.

Small but great exhibit and audio tour gave us a good history of Lautrec's life and work. Very interesting.

The layout of the museum is superb! You can get a headset that tells you all about the pieces, in a not at all droll way. The pieces are brilliant, and the info plaques are in both English and French (as well as maybe Spanish/Dutch/German - but, I can't be sure) and are brief but straight to the point. The building itself that the gallery is situated in is gorgeous! Beautiful architecture and gardens that show panoramic views of the River Tarn and it's beautiful bridges. The surrounding city is amazing and full of little boutiques, shaded cafes and historic sites. You should definitely go sit by the river after your trip to the museum to watch the lazy river go by while having a quick cocktail. I am going back again, and soon!
