“It's Mainly the Building Itself”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

We stopped in Metz - an interesting, historically important small city which we had visited previously - just to experience the Centre Pompidou for the first time. All I can say is: great architecture, but little else. As the museum doesn't have a permanent collection, the prospective visitor should inquire beforehand as to what temporary exhibits are on show, The excellent parking solution could serve as an example for city centre attractions elsewhere.

“Check the website”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Your experience at the new Centre Pompidou Metz could well depend on whatever exhibition is currently on display, so check the website for information. We saw an amazing exhibition called 'View from above' which looked at how the arrival of ariel photography in the late 1800's influenced the artists of the time and has continued to influence art right up to the present time. The combination of the photographs themselves and the paintings in the same exhibit brought it home so very well. A great exhibit.

“superb building and great exhibitions”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We visited this to see Sol LeWitt and the exhibition on aerial views. (La vue en haut). We spent most of the day here and loved it. The building is splendid - with unforgettable panorama views of Metz. The three exhibitions we saw were great and very well designed. The restaurant on the second floor was surprisingly good and we had a pleasant long lunch here before going back to the exhibition centre. Well worth a visit.

“Impressive building but quite expensive entry”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

We saw an excellent exhibition but with entry at 15 Euros a person including audio guide, it seemed on the pricey side. The building is certainly impressive but the immediate surroundings of the centre are rather bleak which slightly spoils the impact.
