When you like tradition in the kitchen, in decoration and in atmosphere you have to go to this restaurant. The salads are excelent (we had salade strasbourgeoise with classic emmental and cervela, and salade vosgienne with lardons and croutons), and then I went for the escalope with Munster cheese and champignons and my partner took a smaller dish: a delicous tarte flambée with Munster cheese. We started with a half Riesling and then we had a very good Pinot Noir: Chateau de Vaux Les Hautes Brassières. The place was full and therefore we were very happy that we had a reservation. Without that it is impossible to have a table (or you have to be a good friend of the waiter...). But the food is more than ok.

Our first night in Metz was highlighted by this restaurant that came highly recommended by a contact in town. The tart was great, my son loved the escargot, and we all had great veal dishes. Portions were oversized and hearty.

If you are in the area of Metz but looking for a restuarant that is more akin to Strasbourg then this is the one. The Tarte Flambee comes in different varieties Traditional, Gratinee or with Smoked Salmon. The tables are small and prices are cheap for Metz. To keep the prices down, water is served in plastic bottles and salt and pepper pots are like the cheap ones you find in a supermarket. The side salad has too less dressing. The service is ok. Wine is from Alsace and is served in traditional color glasses

This is one of the best traditional restaurant in Metz: they have a rich menù with traditional Lorraine dishes. The meat is the king of this restaurant: wurstel, beacon, tartare all is on the top. Very good also the escargots with garlic butter sauce

this Alsacian restaurant can also be quite exotic to people from Lorraine as quite different also for the food. Please don´t mixe it up. Wood almosphere with small fish bassin. Service was very quick. Try the Tarte Flambée or Flammkuchen - the regular one is OK and typical. If you want to try the other one´s they are OK thanks to the heat of the oven but really new creations for the traditial oldfahioned food institution. The rest of the card is great.
Something else ou would never geet elsewhere is the AMER Beer,..... if fan of beer try it.
Service is nice (heard German and English as well)
