We stayed at the Hotel Terminus (there is a typo in the header which I can't change) in April 2010. To put our comments in some sort of perspective, we arrived relatively late in the evening in Metz and were already somewhat frazzled by the heavy traffic, narrow streets and lack of parking. After finding a few hotels full or considerably above our price range, we decided to take a room at the Hotel Terminus which is just across the road from the railway station. Although there is lots of paid parking available at the railway station, we preferred to park on the lit street near the hotel.
Whilst our double room was clean, it was very basic, if not a little bleak. Apart from a single bed, rail to hang clothes on and a small TV set, there were no other furnishings or decoration of any kind in the room. The ensuite bathroom was large and clean, but completely sterile. The towels were clean but well worn and torn. To add to the bleakness/sterility, the bed had heavy plastic sheeting under the sheets which crackled every time you moved a muscle. Whilst I could have removed the plastic, I thought it might be there for a good reason.
Unfortunately, neither the young night concierge nor the day manager (whom he had to call) could work out how to use a credit card with a chip ... so the E52.70 payment for the room had to be cash. On the plus side, the young man was very excited to have his first Australians to stay and was most animated in his discussions about Australia.
