“Beautiful Art Nouveau Space”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Expensive but good food. Recommend (a) go for lunch, as perhaps prices are lower? (not sure about that) and (b) make reservations if possible--we were shut out of main room for lack of them, but walked through to be sure to take in the incredible design anyway! Unhurried service. Wouldn't recommend for small children, though.

“Magnificent interior, excellent food, okay value”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

The interior work of this brasserie will not be surpassed anywhere, including Paris. It takes you back over 100 years to what the French call the "belle epoch" or beautiful time. The food was very good. My chateau-briand was cooked perfectly, and my friend's sausage and sauerkraut were also very good. The only downside to this place is the price: two entrees, two desserts, and some table wine was 91 euros, a bit on the pricey side, but you will definitely get what you pay for here.

“Beautiful Main Room, but just 'OK' food”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

The main room is breath taking and worth seeing, but the food is just average. I would consider it overpriced for the quality of food. I've been 3 times and each time I wish I had gone just for coffee and dessert.
But if you choose to go, then you might want reservations on Friday-Sunday night, or go early around 6:30. Other wise you will be seated in the overflow room.

“Beautiful brasserie, average food”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Beautiful building and setting a few hundred meters from Place Stanislas, the Excelsior was recommended by the reception at our hotel (Grand Hôtel de la Reine). The service is efficient and the food is good. The room is loud and charming as you would expect in a French brasserie. It is a tad expensive for such basic food but if you celebrate your birthday, you'll be in for a treat (Surprise!).

“No food, bad service”
Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

We came here for breakfast, but at 11.00 in the morning they were out of bread. The service was not friendly. In stead of breakfast we ordered coffee, and got double expressos while asking for normals. The bill was 8 euros. Breakfast would have been 9, only now we didnt get any juice or bread..
