“Modern and clean”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

We had some trouble locating this hotel even with the sat nav. The location is 20 minutes from the historic centre on foot (if you have kids). The appartment was very clean and well equipped with nice flat screen telly with free english movies - including childrens movies.

Free internet.

Building looks horrid from outside but pleasant inside - room clean and modern.

Blinds were broken in our room though and could not be closed.

The suite was a bit cramped at night with pull out bed extended.

Garage was tight and space limited. Buffet Breakfast was good but probably not worth it as they supply free coffee and croissants anyway.

Trip into stunning town centre worthwhile. Helpful english speaking Staff proved map and directions (you will need them) Plenty of Restaurants there - pretty but pricey so we ate in adjoining Hippo restaurant which is part of the same chain.

Hotel never responded to email requests for info sent prior to our arrival.

Exiting Nancy as stressful as entering - try to avoid rush hour!

First impressions of this hotel are excellent once you get over the initial drive to the hotel- you can be forgiven for thinking you got it wrong and ended up in an industrial estate somewhere. In fact it is only a short walk to the heart of the city.
The hotel is good value for money, close to the main centre (15-20 min walk) and the welcome was the friendliest on the trip so far from a very knowledgeable young lady on reception who also advised on walking tours and places toeat/avoid eating..Room impression was good also- modern design, huge amount of space, every mod con(including kitchenette/microwave for meals that could be purchased downstairs), good bathroom, altogether a comfy & spacious room for living and working. A pleasant place to stay and a very pleasant welcome. Also plenty of street parking nearby and the area was pretty safe. The lobby was also good, with plenty of vending machines - including microwave meals if you didn't want to leave the hotel.

Theonly real negative for me was the sleep quality, and this is a criticism of not only this hotel but many other French hotels also and please understand this is a personal preference only. Firstly, French hoteliers: - please don't make your mattresses out of either concrete or from some semi-solid blancmange material designed to induce curvature of the back overnight, neither are good mattress fillers and do not help conducive sleeping(in this hotel's case, it was a semi-concrete mattresses that played havoc with my wife's back). Secondly, the rest of the world has sort-of agreed a standard for pillows: typically rectangular shape, generously filled with some sort of supportive material (foam or down are usually good) tosupport your neck/head. All except in France, where we get various combinations of random geometric shapes (cylinders/triangles/large squares) filled with some uncomfortably random material with no defined volume or padding characteristics and which are designed specifically to stop you sleeping well. Therefore the only real issue for me was the sleep quality of the bed/bedding,since I just could not get comfortable and ended up with a very disturbed sleep for most of the night, but I know this is a personal preference.
Otherwise if you're the sort of person who can sleep on anything, this really is a good hotel.

After quite a few experiences, I've learnt that Novotel rooms will not fit 3 or 4 people, no matter what they claim. In the case of Novotel in Nancy, the hotel is new, rooms are clean, breakfast is ok. Service is good and people are nice. I'd most certainly go back!

The hotel is located in a new quiet area of Nancy called "Jardin d'eau" as water gardens are all around. It is a 10-minute walk to the center and the renown Place Stanislas. There is on-site small parking which needs to be reserved in advance. Yet, it is very easy to freely park in surrounding streets or at the cinema multiplex Kinepolis across the street.

It is difficult to characterize this place: looking at the room size it is really a suite hotel but looking at the lobby and its vending machines you might be in a motel.

Our very spacious and clean room overlooking the water gardens consisted of two separate areas. First, a no-frills bedroom with its en-suite cabin bathroom: too firm bed, a curtain was hanging loose, good bathroom with tub and shower with basic toiletries. Then a living area that includes a large wall-mounted desk, mini fridge, microwave oven and a separate toilet cabin: the desk had kept traces of dinosaur painting by children. The two areas can be partitioned by a sliding curtain and the flat TV can be rolled on either side.

The hotel doesn't have a restaurant hence the vending machines in the lobby with packed food and the microwave oven and the mini-fridge in the room. Breakfast in the back of the lobby is correct nothing more with its packs of prepared food.

Service is excellent, friendly and joyful. Children get a dinosaur kit to assemble and paint hence the traces on the desk in our room.

You mix all that and you have a very good place to stay with good value.

The hotel is located in a nice, safe neighborhood, just about 15 minutes walking distance from the city center. It is located next to the river and a botanical garden, so one can enjoy nice views of the boats. The garden must be very nice in the warm months, right now there is not much to see except for the water pools.
We stayed at family suite. The rooms are very modern and clean, not very big, but not small either. Beds had nice, firm mattresses - excellent for good sleep. Bathroom has a bathtub and a shower cabin, and the toilet is in a separate room (something we found very convenient in the mornings and evenings, when getting ready for going out or getting ready for bed). Breakfast was superb. Several French specialties, several options of yoghurt, breads, croissants etc. They gave away breakfast boxes for small kids containing nutella, a box of cereal, danone yogurth and fruit pure. While this is a nice touch, we didn't find it needed, since our kids didn't eat the cereal, and would rather serve themselves with things available in buffet. We appreciated the fact that breakfast was served from 6 till 11 am, plenty of time for even those that sleep till late to get there. The staff was very, very friendly. At the end of our stay they gave our kids each a toy, a dinosaur puzzle, which they enjoyed assembling and coloring very much. If coming by car, there is parking garage; one can reserve a parking spot by e-mailing the hotel. One can also find some parking spots in the neighboring streets and it is free. If we go back to Nancy, we are staying at this hotel again.
