Stayed 2 nights on a visitor package which included a free backpack with biscuits, water map, free wifi, 2 x 16 euro breakfasts and unlimited tea and coffee sachets in the room for 212 euros - drinks at the bar (open till 11pm) very expensive and best avoided. The best thing about this Hotel is the location, very central but very quiet and also the staff/service - very polite, helpful and all spoke English to one degree or another. They ordered taxis and answered questions and chatted to us in the lounge. Parking was 12.50 euros per day and accessed down the side of the building not from the front - we missed it the first time and had to go round in a square thank goodness for the sat nav as its all one way. Look for a little purple sign down at the side. The roof is VERY low, the first level all reserved but go up and there is plenty of spaces. You pay when you check out. The public areas are nicely decorated and there is a lift to all floors. As everyone else reports, the room was small, not much room around the bed, and the decor looked as if a quick makeover had been done at some point in the last couple of years at minimum expense. The carpets definately need changing, the bedrooms have bright orange swirly 1970s pattern and the corridor carpets are threadbare and worn out in places, I think they were green originally, difficult to tell. The furniture is in a frightful dark wood melamine finish so the room we had overlooking a tatty courtyard had little natural daylight and I could not have stood it for longer than a couple of days. Having said that the place was truly spotless including the mattress and under the bed (which I always check) and in the corners and it smelt naturally fresh. The voile curtain could have done with a wash. The bedding was crisp and fresh and the bed was comfortable and very large but the pillows were thin. I heard no noise at all all the time we were there. Had to have the window open all the time as it was stuffy even with the heating control right down. The bathroom tiling was dated and the grout could have done with refreshing, but no mould all 70s style again - but very spacious, clean and everything worked. Toiletries were provided and replaced each day. Found the same as another reviewer, there was no cold water in the taps. Good shower/bath but there was an electric radiator in the bathroom which had a blackened grill (see photo) which was a bit alarming, so we wouldn't have used it. The hairdryer was surprisingly good. The breakfast buffet was OK, sausages were tiny and bacon the usual continental stringy style, there was cereal, bread, croissants, fruit - fresh and tinned style, yoghurt cold meat/cheese and a fresh orange juice maker so plenty of choice and in a nice clean, fresh dining room. When we arrived the food was not available as chef had gone home (approx 9.30pm) so we went to Pasta Mano which was excellent (see my review) for a quick unbooked pizza. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in the vicinity. I was a little dismayed at the maintenance of the room, the skirting board behind the curtain was missing and electric cables were showing (see my photo) and the ceiling had sagged/cracked. Having said all that the service/friendliness, cleanliness and convenience made up for a lot and I would consider going back again for a short visit if I visit my daughter who is working in the town, again.

We arrived after a lengthy drive from Paris, the hotel is situated right in the centre of town.
The staff were very friendly & helpful as we needed to find a laundromat we were directed to exactly where he informed us.
We decided we were too tired to go out for dinner that evening as we were heading off to Stuttgart early the next day.
We ordered room service which was a disaster, 2 people, 1 meal & a glass of wine arrived informed service it was 2 meals & a bottle of wine. Definitely frozen dinner meal heated in microwave & need staff who can also speak reasonable English.
with having a restaurant for breakfast I can't see why they can't operate a dining room as well.

My sister and I spent 2 nights at 119 euro per night with the parking gaarage an extra 12.50 euro per day. This rate included a free breakfast and free internet service. The
room was spacious and included a hot water pot and instant coffee and tea. The bath
room was so clean that surgery could have been performed! The only fault was no
wash cloths which I have found is typical for many European hotels. The front desk
staff were very helpful and made reservations each night for us for dinner and also
helped us with directions on a map they provided for a trip to the village of Baccarat. I
enjoyed the two nights here as much as I did at our over 700 euro per night hotel in
Paris without internet included!

The Mercure in Nancy is in an excellent location for exploring this fascinating city. It is just as well, however, that we found lots to do as we wouldn't have wanted to spend too much time in out tiny room. If we had had brought a cat to swing it would definitely have touched the walls of our somewhat compact room. With two people and a large double bed there wasn't much room to move. Clearly there wasn't much room for extra furniture either as there were no drawers and I had to keep my shirts on top of the small dresser . When we enquired about a larger room we were told that ours was the standard size, looking at the hotel plan, however, it was clealr that there were larger rooms available. Breakfast at 16 Euros each seemed expensive and could be had for much less at cafes nearby. We also had a problem with our cold water tap. At no time in our four day stay could we get cold water from the tap, it was always hot or warm, maybe this was to encourage you to buy cold drinks from the mini-bar! We have to say, however, that the staff were friendly and generally helpful.

We stayed in this hotel with our 18 month old son, we had asked for a babybed and it was there on arrival.
The location of the hotel is very good, right in the center, easy to reach with the car.
There is a secure parking available (the ceiling of the parking is low so maybe not available for all cars).
The room was of a very good size (even with the baby bed we had plenty of space) , the bed was excellent. The bathroom was very small and a bit outdated. Breakfast was good.
The hotelstaff was very nice, we did forget some toys , and the lady at the reception called us and told us she would send us the toys at home ( at our cost off-course). I thought it was a good service , i don't think a lot of hotelpersonnal would do this effort.

Nancy first of all is an amazing place! This hotel is wonderfully placed close to the Place Stanislas as well as wonderful shops and restaurants. My boyfriend and I arrived by train and had only carry-on and walked from the train station to the hotel and it took only 5 minutes. This was wonderful considering the fact that we had been up until 4 dancing at our friend's wedding in Andlau! The hotel was so helpful with correspondence before our trip too and sent us a map of how to go from the train station to the hotel but we did not need it, the city has placed signs all over that point to cultural areas and hotel names. The staff was impeccable and incredibly helpful! They spoke French, English and German perfectly! The room was lovely with windows we could open out. The bathroom where the toilet was, was quite interesting and very small! But overall, it made for a fun joke because everything else was perfect!
