“The Best Thing About Limoges”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2011

We hated Limoges but this restaurant, recommended by our hotel receptionist, was really rather good. Not cheap but good. The foie gras was excellent although my husband found his steak tough. It was probably the atmosphere that really made it special. Plus, anything is going to feel good compared to the ugly city of Limoges.

“fab authentic Itatian Bistro”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2011

My friends and I visited the sleepy town of Limoge for a short break in June.
I had read the reviews for Bistro du boucher and decided to give it a try, and what a pleasent experience it was.
The menu was in French ,but my friends and I managed to pick out a few key words.
We tried the seafood soup for our first course which was a gastronomical delight, the flavours were so rich and intense, our only critisism would be that there wasn,t enough of it.
For our main meal we ordered the speciality of the region,Limosine beef, this was very tender.
Our desert was followed by a complimentary liquer.
The whole experience was a delight, the best meal on our trip.
The restaurant inside the indoor market was also a fantastic place to eat for lunch,12.50 euro for 3 course, the most tender roast lamb i have ever eaten.

“So french and soooo nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2010

LE bistrot du Bouche is a small café...no wonder if you don't get a table it's always full.

The food is very sipmple, back to the roots, but AMAZING.
You have traditional and local french cuisine. Eg. If you order some Pate, you will have the all Terrine on the table and can help yourself...same for the dessert!
The table are with the traditional red/white vichy print. So Rustic / Rural!

This is really a must to see and you have to try it ;)

“Lots and lots of lovely Limousin beef”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2009

We ended up here by virtue of it being one of three eating places open at 8pm on a Monday in Limoges near our hotel. It was small and cosy, the tables close together, 3 types of set menu (14euro, 18 euro, 24 euro), and a specials board.
There were three of us eating, 2 adults and a child. The waiter was friendly and once he had spotted the "Collins French phrase book" on the table, switched to english.
My daughter had the (seemingly standard french child's menu option) minced beef patty and fries. I chose something that came with pasta which turned out to be a huge chunk of meat cooked to tender perfection in red wine and my husband one of the two standard steaks. we were reliant on the phrasebook menu helper for what things were and it didn't have all of it!
There was a bottle of heniz ketchup discreetly tucked away which was brought on request for my daughter, and the rest of the food was lovely.
We ordered desserts without having any idea what we were getting, but they were delicious. The service was attentive, the restaurant was busy but relaxed, and there were plenty of french people eating in there, which is always a good sign!
We'd return, and we'd be happy if it turned out to be a chain which planned to open in the UK!
