I found L'artemise from trying to book its sister accommodation. I was very excited when I was told there was availability as it looked really nice on the internet. When we arrived it lived it to its expectations. The setting is beautiful. We were greeted and shown to our fabulous room. We stayed in the Aquae room which we loved. A distinct feature was the glass wall with a projected image from a scene in NZ, very soothing to watch while laying in bed. The bed was really comfortable, the bathroom was so luxurious. The attention to detail is really thought out, the décor is stylish even down to the taps on the sink and bath. The view from our room was beautiful.
One of my favourite parts of our stay at L'artemise was the breakfast; we were treated to a feast each morning. We still talk about the fig moose. The pool area is also a treat, we loved the day beds.
Be sure to book in one night to the restaurant which as we described afterwards was a culinary delight! The setting is also lovely.
The town of Uzes is really close by. Uzes itself is a beautiful place which just added to the overall wonderful experience we had. I stayed here with my husband and we felt like we were on a second honeymoon. Benoit is a wonderful host and very professional. He was very helpful with any requests. If you would like to treat yourself to a memorable stay is Uzes book into L'artermise.

L’Artemise more than exceeded my expectations upon arrival. We pulled up to to this old, mildly secluded chateau and curiously went around the corner into a garden of elegantly laid tables ready to accept restaurant guests and were quietly greeted by the chefs and restaurant staff all sitting around the table eating lunch, looking exhausted already from half a days’ work of laboring away in the kitchen to create perfection for their guests. We opened a heavy ancient wood door and walked up the faded old steps highlighted by modern silver colored shapes painted by a local artist (you will have to go see it yourself to understand their purpose). Co-owner Benoit cheerfully greeted us and having remembered my birthday, offered us a surprise upgrade to a suite! My lucky day!

The two-room suite was anything but ancient. Two flat-screen televisions, deep brown teak looking wood flooring in the bathroom and the shower (!), an iPod with Benoit’s hand-picked playlists and a long stone bathtub and floated sparingly around this minimalist grey colored space dotted with bright orange artistic features. Only the small windows around the room that opened up to reveal stunning views of the surrounding countryside reminded you that you were actually in Provence to create a unique contrast.

The food, holding true to the online reviews, was sensational. Every morning consisted of tumbling out onto the stone balcony in the chateau presented with a perfect mix of breakfast of meats and cheeses, fresh fruits, homemade yogurts and chocolate croissants followed by a daily changing breakfast cake.

The candle-lit garden restaurant in the evening was relaxing and romantic. It was almost as if you were eating in a luxury garden chez toi (not a London home), but knowing you were about to get more exquisite food that you could ever drum up, no matter how good of a chef you actually are! Savory flavors straight from the garden and other local produce and meat found its way onto my plate and I had to restrain myself from inhaling these mouth-watering bites.

Not to forget – there is also a pool on one side of the garden and a separate house in the back that the owners are turning into a first class gym, but in all honesty, between cycle rides to the Pont du Guard and tours of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape wineries, we didn’t even have much time for the pool and gym part of the trip.

In summary, l’Artemise was the perfect answer to my calls for a perfect weekend of food, sun, wine and relaxation. Yet, there was just one thing… although of a lovely linen fabric, the guest bathrobes in the closet were not Ligne de Soie silk robes:)) Regardless, I will most certainly find my way back in the future.
