We just had such a wonderful stay here. All the glowing compliments from others are true and well deserved. We spent one night here last year and just returned for a longer stay.

Gwilym and Alexis are such excellent hosts. They are totally focused on your enjoyment. They have recommendations on what to do and make reservations for dining if you so desire.

The accommodations are lovely. As others have said, the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. The suite with balcony is so special. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom large and well designed.

Everything about L’Albiousse makes me want to recommend it to others.

Sometimes you visit a hotel, and you think wow! All of the details are considered, such as the decor, the greeting, the location, and just how well everything seems to work. This hotel is one of those places, and to be honest it ranks as one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. If you are thinking of going to Uzes, you must stay here if you are lucky enough to secure a room. We will be going back, and we can’t wait.

My husband and I travel quite a bit, especially in Europe and we have never quite loved a hotel and it’s owners as much as we loved l’albiousse and Gwilym & Alexis. First the hotel itself is beautiful, it feels so homey and yet chic and you feel immediately relaxed and perfectly welcome. We slept like logs right off our flight (which never happens for me with jet lag ) and breakfast was incredible. Yogurt, fresh preserves, eggs, bacon, great coffee.
The views from bedrooms into the streets is lovely as well.
Gwilym and Alexis are extremely helpful in giving you restaurant recommendations, Things to see and do and just seem to always be available when you have a question
Can’t recommend this place more !

Guilym (spelling?) and Alex are such lovely hosts. They are so welcoming. All the rooms are gorgeous. We came for a wedding and took over all 5 rooms. The whole family was made to feel at hone and we were spoilt. Breakfast is a delicious affair...fresh fruit salad, homemade cakes and jams, yogurt with fresh compotes and scrambled eggs. Served in a lush green courtyard. They even got us a taxi at the last minute when the one we had ordered had let us down as we were leaving. Thank you both for your care and for setting up such a lovely room for the newlyweds after the wedding!

This review is written from the perspective and experience with many B&B stays across Southern Europe over about 10 trips, and 8 different B&B's on this trip through southern France. After visiting the big cities on our first trips, we now prefer the countryside B&B's, Agriturismo's, or very small and highly-rated hotels. We do not visit Europe only to stay in a big American-owned hotel.
L'Albiouse is a wonderfully operated and well-located B&B with English speaking hosts in the heart of old town Uzes. Our host was very responsive to my emailed questions ahead of time, and very informative once we were there. The attention to detail and quality is evident from the start, and it seemed that Gilliam was at the door to greet us each time that we returned from an outing. It's just a short walk to la Place, (central square) which we truly loved, including its transformation into a terrific outdoor market on Saturday morning. Also an easy walk to Petra's cooking school, Le Pistou(See separate review)
We just wished that the village would prohibit motorized vehicles whizzing through constantly...it's an unfortunate distraction.
If you are driving to Uzes, we recommend that you understand access to the B&B, parking arrangements, and locations ahead of time, which I normally would, but left off on this stop. Nevertheless, we called Gwilym once we were close and he was kind enough to meet us at the underground public parking and assist with our luggage. No lift and lots of old stone stairs, but not a problem since this is the type and location of place that we seek. Excellent recommendations for lunch, snack, and dinner...local food and not touristy, just like we prefer. We highly recommend L'Alibouse!
