“Excellent food and atmosphere”
Reviewed November 15, 2010

I agree entirely with Cleo's review. The food was delicious and the service exemplary-though the one waitress was working very hard. Our only disappointment was that it was closing for the winter the day after our visit!

“Quality, local, honest food whilst watching the world go by!”
Reviewed May 13, 2009

A L'Etage is located in a quieter corner of the delightful Place Herbes in central Uzes.
This is not a fancy place but it really blew our socks off, so that we went back two nights in a row.
The setting is lovely of course - bag a seat at the front and you can watch children play, cats and dogs chase & be chased, locals greeting one another and the lights in the trees flicker, interrupted only by snippets of pleasant conversation, with lots of ums and ahhs in between.
The menus are brought to you on large chalk boards and you will feel spoilt for choice. Service is informal but very efficient and friendly. In it's lack of unnecessary fuss, it feels like eating at home on a very very good day, when your ingredients have been plucked from the fields just hours before.
We enjoyed (twice!) soft and aromatic roast lamb fillets with rosemary and duck confit that slid off the bone for mains, along with just the right size portions of divine potatoes and a lovely varied selection of vegetables cooked to perfection. To start were citrus marinated roasted red peppers, asparagus, and country pate. Raspberry tart had all sold out (a very good sign) by the time we got to it, but the tart tatin and fresh strawberries were so good, there wasn't much time for dissapointment.
This is honest, local and great quality food at it's very best.
Go and enjoy.
