“just the job!”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Just spent the night here as we were in town to watch our rugby league team play the dragons. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of it. Really nice staff, spotless rooms and secure parking makes this place great VFM. We will b going back here for sure.

So we picked this hotel because we wanted secure parking. We got that, it's behind a gate and under the property in a dark, dank "garage" area. The owners were friendly and helpful. We got a room facing the street, but it wasn't too loud in the evening. We walked to the downtown area (about 10 mins) but about 3-4 blocks were a little sketchy feeling. No one bothered us, but you have to walk past a sex shop (as an example). The downtown area is great, nice wide streets, neat restaurants, cafes, etc. The room was small, but functional. Good use of storage. The bathroom was a decent sized, tho the bathtub itself was rounded at the bottom which makes showering a little exciting. The toilet had its own little room. The water pressure was good, towels were good. The bed was very firm, the pillows lacking, even tho we had extra ones. The breakfast was good with lovely croissants and baguettes and limited choice of cereals, etc. typical of a small European hotel. All in all it was an okay stay for a quick stop, but if I'm ever in the area again, I'd likely stay in town or in another area of town only because of the neighborhood.

Stayed here to visit town and local area as well as visit Carcassonne and watch a Catalans Dragons home match. 10 mins walk from centre of town, 20 mins walk to Catalans ground. (Even closer to Perpignan RU ground). Parking available, really nice buffet breakfast worth the 7.50 euros extra. Owners friendly and helpful, not much English but appreciative of our attempts at O-level french. Nicely done rooms with a few quirks but really quiet location despite being on a main route into perpignan. We were there the night the Presidentila election results were announced and the town was full of hooting cars but we didn't hear any from the hotel. Would return quite happily.

We had a spontaneous night where we needed to find a hotel. This had a decent price. Unfortunately we didn't get exact directions from the train station (due to lack of wifi) so just had the address and help from locals who we came across on the way there. It was about a km or so away from the station so we decided to walk, but seemed longer with our bags. After multiple wrong turns (apparently not all locals are familiar with street names) we arrived at 10:30 PM, which was half an hour after latest check in. The woman at the front desk was waiting for us, so we were incredibly thankful. It had been a really long day after train rides and walking so a nice clean room was just what we needed. Not sure about some of the reviews which say it was really old and basic, because our room was very nice. The toilet was built in later, so it was on one side of the room while the shower area was in another.

It was a great place to spend the night in. In the morning the host poured us two cups of espresso and we were on our way. Armed with directions (free wifi) it was much easier to get around. Ended up taking a bus to the train station and then exploring the city by foot. Excellent baguettes and sandwiches. Also, amazing kebab place right next to the train station.

Would definitely stay again.
