“Seedy and run-down”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Although conveniently sited this establishment needs either a great deal of investment or complete redevelopment!

The rooms are faded, some with peeling wallpaper, and very basic furniture. It was impossible to take a shower as there was no attachment for the shower head on the wall! Trying to shower while holding the shower isn't easy!

Rooms at the front (on the street) are very noisy and in high summer you have to have the windows open as there's no air-con.

The only upsides were that wi-fi is free and it's cheap. But for an additional few Euro you can stay at the brand-new Comfort at the station!

We booked this hotel as a last minute deal. We were very unsure of what to expect as the previous hotel we'd booked was a bit of a let down. Not so the Mondial!
The staff were very pleasant and friendly and very helpful in describing the locations of good eating places etc.
Madame Raspard herself is a delightful lady, who was very kind and helpful.
The rooms were comfortable and clean and thoughtfully provided with a good fan, which was needed!
Breakfast was superb! Plenty of choice and unlimited.
I have already decided that on our next visit to Perpignan, this will be the only hotel we will stay in.

All seemed fine, small room no air con. But then we were awoken by thunderous drilling and hammering at 8:00 am. Totally ruined our day, it was ridiculous. Couldn't hear each other talk. It continued all morning. I complained and they said 'its the neighbors'. It was inside the hotel building!!!

No offer to change the room or any form of apology. Be very wary.

Quite a good deal if all you want is a place to lay your head. I asked for a room at the back, as the front is on a street with bars, etc. The one they gave me was quiet enough, but it didn't have a proper window and was quite dark and stuffy - probably better to get one at the front of the hotel and brave the street noise. Breakfast wasn't included, but the street up towards the station has some decent cafes.

We just stayed one night at the Mondial this week. We found it by chance at 23.30 hrs at night. We had driven from near Nice with two small children as our flight was cancelled due to French air traffic control strikes. The guy on the desk and the hotel owner re arranged a room for us, brought all our luggage up and just made everything easy. It was 70 euro including breakfast. The next day we had trouble with our car and had to get to barcelona. Hertz wanted to charge 900 euro to bring it to Spain. The owner of the hotel insisted on driving us to Figueres over 50 km so we could connect a train to barcelona to try and get back from there to Dublin. I work in a luxury 5 star hotel and while the Mondial is simple, it was impeccable and honestly the best hospitality I have received in a hotel. Mathilde on the desk and her colleagues all couldn't do enough for us. The owner went above and beyond the call of duty to help us.

It is a nice 2 star hotel, simple, no-frill and comfortable, equipped with WiFi and TV. No mini-bar. The bathroom somewhat surprised me, it was big for a 2 star hotel. It has a bath-tub but the tub can't be used as it is meant as a shower only bathroom. If you are a non-smoker, please make sure you specify that when you reserve or take your room because the rooms for smokers tend to be heavily laced with cigarette-smell. Rooms are easy to get during the off season but during the peak season, the hotel is popular due to its reasonable room-rates. Serves breakfast too upon request.

Location wise it is not bad, hotel is in a safe area, you have a few cafés, bars, fast food restaurants, and Post Office on the same boulevard, a few banks with ATMs on nearby streets; you are about 20-25 minutes walk to the Perpignan SNCF train station and around less than that towards the city centre / Castillet / Palais de Congrés districts.

Good enough for people who are in Perpignan for a short stay or on a shoe-string budget.

Room Tip: The hotel is not really meant for young children as the walls and doors are thin. It is a 2 star hot...

The hotel is somewhat older, but still in an acceptable stage. The price is fairly high, but one can deal with this. Everything was clean and the staff was very freindly.
