Owner description: Castle & Fortifications A royal palace of the medieval Mediterranean Located in the heart of Perpignan, this 13th century palace was for nearly a century the center of the ephemeral Kingdom of Mallorca. Our kids love running through this Palace. The views from the roofs are incredible. Well worth the difficulty of finding the entrance!

This palace more than any other building in Perpignan gives an insight into the fascinating history of the old capital of Catalonia. Well worth a visit. We saw a Son et Lumiere here - the evening we went it was in Catalan and none the worse for that!

The palace is in a pleasant setting within its own grounds but there is little to see other than the building itself and its interiors which are empty.

Very interesting but steer clear of the official guides: a 20 minute history lecture before being started on the castle tour? Not necessary.

About a 25-minute walk from the center of town, this monument is worth a visit. When you enter, there is a very pretty courtyard. Once you enter, you can tour the different rooms (which are bare), and walk all the way to the top of the fortress. There are some very pretty views of Perpignan from the top.
