We booked for 3 nights some months in advance. The booking and receipt of deposit was confirmed. Several weeks before our planned date of arrival we had to shorten our stay to one night. This was conveyed to the hosts but no acknowledgment was received. Therefore a couple of days before our arrival date, we sent another email. A response was received. We were informed that due to a family crisis (the unexpected birth of a premature baby) our booking was therefore cancelled. While understandable, it was unprofessional not to have contacted us.
Our request for the return of the deposit launched a protracted interchange. No matter what information we supplied, more always seemed to be required.Our bank was adamant that everything needed had been made available. Eventually, in frustration we asked that euro notes be put in a card and posted to us. We asked for confirmation when this had been done. This was not received. Perhaps it was sent and "lost" in the mail......... Strange it has been the only mail from Europe that has gone awolMore
