“A fantastic place to have a holiday!”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

We organised to have a family holiday here with my sister and her little ones. It was a such great place. Perfectly situated for so many different day trips: Beach, Cathar Castles, Canal de Midi, Carcassone. The accomodation was excellent it had a real french feel, it had everything we needed. The indoor heated pool was a real treat and having the enclosed garden meant we could let kids run around and play without any worries. There was a big games room with a pool table and table football and loads more, it meant the kids kept themselves busy while we lounged about in the beautiful garden. Each gite had their own area in the garden with a BBQ and table so most nights we ate outside and beacuse the complex was all security gated it meant that we could put the kids to bed safely and we were able to stay out in the garden in the evening and have a relaxing drink. Which brings me onto my next point, the local wines are something else, really fresh and i'm not sure what they put in their Rose and Granache but it's fantastique! The whole trip was really great, we ate great local produce and drank lovely wine and felt really safe and secure in the gites and the owners were so helpful. They have a place in the grounds but they weren't intrusive, they were their to welcome you and then we saw them watering the garden in the evening and they were always really freindly and gave us lots of good advice about local places to go that we would never have found out about even with our Rough Guide and Lonely Planet. We stayed in the big four bed Gite and it has a really large open plan living area. The owners said it was a converted wine Chai which is a barn conversion to me. The main room was a big space with high ceilings and alot of light, it was well resourced with TV, DVDs, books, games, jigsaws and big family dining table and the kitchen was well stocked with all sorts of utensils and pots and pans that we never got to use much of apart from the wine cork, because we cooked at the BBQ most evenings and for breakfast and lunch we'd just have bread and cheeses in the garden. The kids liked the fact that there was a door that led down from the gite into the indoor pool so they could get in there as soon as they woke up, it was lockable though so we had no worries. The bathroom was good and very clean, in fact everywhere was cleaned really well, which surprised me because I've stayed in lots of gites in the South of France and always found them dusty and so i assumed it was just the way it is down there, but I found here really well cleaned, and the bed sheets were clean as were the bathroom towels and the beach towels. The place just felt really well looked after and it seemed a lot of thought had gone into what we'd need to have a good stay. The beds were really comfy and I slept really well because it was so quiet and there was no light pllution (a treat for us Londoners!), the bedrooms were a bit bijou as the french say but perfectly comfy for sleeping in and having a shower and basin in the room meant that we didn't have to queue for the bathroom, I definetely appreciated having them in there rather than have the extra space. All in all we all had a great holiday, it's a fantastic area and these gites were brilliant to stay in. I very rarely go back to the same place twice, but I'd defintely like to explore this corner of France more, and even more rarely for me I'd probably choose to stay here at these Gites again if I came back here. I always like to go new places and explore new things but here we were made to feel so welcome and it ticked so many of our boxes that it'd be the perfect place to explore from again. Definite thumbs up from me!

My family have returned for another year due to such an enjoyable stay last summer. I must stay we weren't disappointed! The owners have added a pool table in the games room which was another activity for our children and the swimming pool has been re-tiled showing off the crystal clear water. Lovely evenings spent in the walled garden by the pond a particular highlight. Top family holiday with wonderful beaches not too far away.

Our family of 5 stayed here and had a great time. The indoor pool meant we didn't have to worry about sun cream and the garden was a great size. We played hide and seek, boules and badminton outside for hours. There was also a great pool table inside in a games room. The owners were very helpful and quickly replaced any items we accidentally broke in the gite. We stayed in the three bedroom Gite minervois. There were two great shower rooms and it was all very clean unlike the gite we went to for the second week of our holiday.

This first floor gite is set in pretty gardens which are well equipped with garden furniture, brick built bbqs, and swings and toys for the children. There are also beautiful vineyard views at the back. However, be aware there is no balcony to enjoy the gardens from, so you have to carry any meals down the external staircase and across the lawn.

Unfortunately, the way the gite was renovated detracted from the character of the old building eg. cheap pine doors and frames, no windows in the 1st floor bedrooms (just a small hole 20-25cm chipped out fo the stone wall), and a noisy toilet behind a shutter door in the 2nd floor bedroom. The kitchen utensils were cheap, and the oven barely functioned. But the biggest downfall was the lack of air conditioning. We followed the owner's advice of keeping the shutters closed during the sunny part of the day to keep the heat out (not really what you want to do on holiday!), and our baby monitor was still registering 30 degrees at night (in June.) On the plus side, the owners were as helpful as they could be, and did loan us an air conditioning unit, but this was extremely noisy and meant that the velux in the upstairs loft conversion rooms had to be permanently open for the air con pipe to poke through! Fortunately we are only a family of 3; had we gone to this 4 bed gite with another family, it would have been an absolute disaster!

We did enjoy having access to the indoor pool from our gite, though it was not regularly cleaned during our 10 day stay.
