“Hotel Majestic, Nimes France”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

I spent three nights there and found it good. It ticked the main boxes of comfortable bed, clean room (apart from a few spots of mould in the shower), quiet and relatively cheap for the area.

Location 300m from the train station and about the same to the city centre is excellent. Staff are friendly and most speak good English.

Quibbles:
The wifi might be great if you're on the first floor, but the signal was too low to use in my room on the second floor (and there's a third floor). Time for us travellers to call hotels on this practice of putting in a cheap router and saying "wifi in all rooms". It's a con, but for very little or no extra expense, relocating the router or buying a decent one would fix it. So, the hotel does NOT have wifi in all rooms, only some lucky ones.
The TV was mounted so high on the wall, you pretty much can't watch it unless you lay flat on your back in bed. Why? Stupid!
The shower head on the other hand was mounted only about 4 feet high! So unless you're 3' 6" tall, you shower with the head (on a hose) in one hand. Why? Stupid!

But other than these easy-to-fix-if-they-care quibbles, I recommend it.

Room Tip: Get a first floor room if wifi in your room matters

We only stayed for one night as a treat after a ten day camping trip, and we couldn't have made a better choice. It's a very cosy hotel, with a nice provencal design. Very quiet and atmospheric, lovely breakfast facilities, including a small lovely designed courtyard.
We chose the hotel on the basis of other reviews, and because it is close to both the town centre and the train station. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly, and we don't think it was because they had to.
The hotel was absolutely great, and it felt like it wanted to extend our holiday experience until we set off to the airport...

We stayed here for one night on our way to the Lot valley, in the family room. It was not fancy or modern, but everything worked. It was nicely decorated and clean, we had our own bathroom and the a/c and free wifi were good to have. The grand staircase (no lifts) was beautiful, and our room on the 2nd floor (3rd for Americans) was not that hard a climb with suitcases. The parking was convenient and we emailed ahead to reserve it because we knew it was going to be a busy night in Nimes on 13th July. The parking place, inside a building across the street, was a tight fit as we were quite late arriving and got the back space, but once in it was ok and secure.
It was very close to the Arena, which was closed when we arrived but that was so it could be the showcase for the fantastic Bastille Day (eve) firework display. A few minutes walk to the old city, full of restaurants, shops and little squares with cafes and patisseries for breakfast. Get up early and enjoy the peace of the old city before the tour groups get moving.

Le majestic is a treasure of a hotel, hidden away in a quiet back street, only 5 minutes walk from Nimes train station one way and the town centre the other way. Considering it is only a 2 star hotel, it is incredibly clean and great value for money. Free wifi, air conditioning and friendly staff who speak English are also plus points. The breakfasts are good value and served in a delightful courtyard. The hotel is very quiet, beds comfortable and clean. The bathroom was small but spotless. Our party was three generations Grandmother(in 70s), Mum (in 40s) and daughter (in 20s.) We had plenty of space and were all impressed with the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to others. Would we go back again.....? Yes we definitely would!

Room Tip: we stayed in the triple room overlooking the courtyard. It was lovely and quiet. There are also shu...

Stayed here one night - we were here for a concert, arriving by train (the Hotel is handily placed for the train station). Close to old town and the Arena, about 10 mins walk. Room was basic but generally comfortable and the aircon worked fine. Bathroom a bit cramped but adequate. Room nicely decorated in 'distressed Provencale' style. Friendly staff and decent breakfast for 7 Euros, generally good value for Nimes; a Hotel we would be happy to use again.

Disappointed. Room was very basic and next to the communal toilets so noisy. And they asked us to check out at 10am. Won't be coming back!

Came here for a short getaway, seemed like a nice place close to town. Turned out to be rundown and pretty awful. Bed was rock hard, A/C barely worked, safe didn't open. The shower was filthy with blocked plug, and had a curtain that only covered one side (read: water everywhere!). Breakfast was also a disappointment, stale croissants and some breads, bitter coffee. Young staff were nice, friendly, but guessing most were holiday workers. In general, I would avoid.

Room Tip: Avoid. There are better places to stay for the price. If you have to, dont' take a room above 19...
