“Beautiful”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

We have just returned from 5 nights at Jardins Secrets, feeling fully relaxed after enjoying the beautiful garden and pool for the past few days, not to mention the excellent care from the staff. Special thanks to Hugo, Joel and Aurelie who looked after us so well. It was good to see the owner mucking in and tending to the garden, cleaning the pool and taking pride in his lovely hotel. The owners obviously love their home town of Nimes too and were really happy to talk to us about some of the less obvious sites to see. We loved the cats and tortoise, Birdie the cat was very friendly and came to sunbathe with us a few times.
You feel more like a guest in a fabulous home, rather than another anonymous customer in an international hotel.
The location is very handy if arriving by train, less than 5 minutes walk and about 5 minutes walk to the arena. It's about 10-15 minutes walk to most of the good restaurants, which was fine for us. Once inside the gardens you could be anywhere, we loved the fact you had the sights and variety of a city within 5-10 minutes but the relaxation and calm of the garden too. The only downside for us was that other than breakfast (which is really tasty with the jams, fresh pastries, yoghurts and fruit, but not as amazing as some of the reviews make out) there is no other food available and you are not allowed to bring food in to eat in the garden. This means if you want a day of doing nothing at all, not leaving the hotel, you have to stock up at breakfast and hold out until dinner. Fortunately breakfast is served until 11.30, so if you want to be really lazy, it is entirely possible to take a late breakfast and then wait until dinner. My one suggestion for improvement would be that the hotel could offer some form of light snack for guests.
The swimming pool is fresh, it is outdoors after all, but once you take the plunge, it is very refreshing. We loved our room. I understand what people mean when they describe the rooms as dark, this didn't bother us, we found it romantic. From reading the other reviews, sounds like upgrading to a mid-range room was the right decision, we certainly had no complaints with our room and are perplexed how anybody could fail to enjoy their stay here.
If you're coming/going from London, it's about 20 minutes from Nimes airport, about 35 euros in a taxi, Ryanair fly directly, so a long weekend here would be very easy to achieve.

This is a TERRIBLE place. first at all the bathroom full of mildew in a room in the upper floor (dark and with a cat smell).
the hotel is not in Provence, it is in Nimes, in a small street far for everything.
They should visit a spa before they can call spa what they have!!
and after all a expensive place with nothing to do, and no other clients in the place...

Room Tip: find another hotel in Provence area

Was it a beautiful dream ? Well, sometimes I feels like that - it was almost like living out a fantasy as the Jardins Secrets is such a haven of beauty in a busy world. The attention to detail is breathtaking and yet it felt just as if we had arrived at the perfect hosts home and nothing was too much trouble. Christophe and his team are charming, gentle and welcoming. The bedroom, with its huge comfortable bed had double doors right to the garden and pool. We had come to Nimes to see Mark Knopfler in concert at the Arenes which was a short walk away. Our host booked us a table at 9 - an amazing restaurant in a courtyard - oozing with character and delicious food. The breakfast was a dream in itself - homemade jams and jellies - rose petal was bliss on the pastries and in the natural yoghurt. The table must have been laid at dawn so all we had to do was open the shutters and step outside into the lush garden and relax. It would have been easy to stay all day but the sea called and also the market at Saint Remy. The spa is heavenly too, if you get the chance you must have a massage, probably the most amazing one I have had - a delight for the senses. In the cool of the evening the garden and pool are lit by lanterns and candles - sublime.

I don't really want to write this review...i want to keep Jardins secret secret!! but I can't, it deserves to be recognized. We found this hotel by chance online. It had some mixed reviews so I was a bit nervous, it's not for everyone, I admit. If you're looking for Motel 6 amenities, glaring lights and big bathrooms, move on. If you are however looking for a wonderful, relaxing experience in beautiful surroundings, you've come to the right place. The hotel is near the train station in Nimes hidden on a side street. You ring the bell and are greeted at the door, shown around the grounds and taken to your room. Ours was a beautiful large room by the limestone pool. Very private with impeccably crisp sheets and a charming terrace. DO GET THE BREAKFAST! Every morning we were greeted by a table set with linen and beautiful china. The doyenne has created magnificent preserves, especially fine were the rose and orange, but all were delicious as were the fresh breads and fantastic yogurt. The service was also impeccable, especially Hugo, who was always ready with a smile and Jules in the evening as he lit the candles. There are several well appointed sitting rooms a conference room and a Napoleon III style bar. The only thing that would make this any better is if we could make it our permanent home.

Room Tip: I'm pretty sure that all the rooms are different and unique, but we asked for a terrace and were...

We stayed here last weekend, it was perfect in every way. The staff (especially the young intern boy) were impeccable in the service and attention that they offered. We felt like nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was perfect; a bed, wardrobe and table lamps are all you need when you spend all your time lounging in the beautiful garden to the soundtrack of the local birds. The hotel breakfast is the most idyllic way to start the day in what can only be likened to paradise. Nimes is charming, and with Uzes and the Pont du Gard only a short drive away, this is the most tranquil base to return to every evening after spending the day exploring the gorgeous surrounding area and towns.

Jardins Secrets is a little haven that seems worlds away from anywhere else, we will definitely be back.

We have just returned from a weekend in the hotel and have had a great time. It was exactly as we had hoped and we will most definitely be staying there again. Staff can not do enough and nothing is too much trouble for them.

First, there is no garden. Second, the pool is an old cement hole in the ground with green water. When we read the misleading description of the "hotel" (its really a run down house) we thought we would enjoy a nice time in the garden. However, unless dead plants and dirt is your idea of a garden, its not to be. No fear, however, the disappointment with the surroundings is more than made up for by the dark, musty, depressing room.

Like another reviewer they added unauthorized amounts to our bill. Strange given that the room is already over priced that they try to steal from their "guests."
