Recommended length of visit: <1 hour
Owner description: The Maison Carree in Nimes is the only Roman ancient temple completely preserved. The inspiration for the design of the Maison Carree came from the temples of Apollo and Mars Ultor in Rome. Inside, you will discover a 23 minutes film "Nemausus, the birth of Nimes" which explains how Nimes became a roman city and shows the construction of the main roman sights of the city (Arena, Maison Carree, Tour Magne).

We brought a ticket that covers 3 monuments for 2 days at 11 euro each. Total bargain! Video was in 3D and great fun although a bit 'cheesy!'

For something 2000 years old, it blows me away the perfect condition it is in. I don't feel you need to spend money on the film. The structure is what is impressive. The only issue is it is on a Main Street with a lot of cars and a lot of teenagers just hanging all around it. So most photos have them in it. I sound old writing that.

Very impressive building, very well preserved. Nice area around it with lots of cafes. We had bought the 3 attraction combined ticket for €11.50 but decided not to bother with the 20 minute video which you view from inside the building.

If you want to have an idea of Roman temples this one is the best conservated in the world.
Unfortunately not open as monument. You must assist to the moovie about some Roman story and pay for it. So the best is to stay outside.

This is a beautiful and well-preserved building in the downtown area. It is used as a theatre for a 3D video with scheduled viewing times that gives some of the history of the city. If you do not have much time, and want a good visit to the other interesting sites, viewing the structure from outside is probably enough.
