“Charming place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014 via mobile

This is a charming little hotel with stylish decoration, friendly people and a good breakfast. Location is pleasant and not far from the city center. Beware that there is no lift (elevator) and some rooms require going up two flights of stairs, the second of which quite narrow. This was not a problem for me as I only had a small bag, but it could be an issue if you're traveling with large suitcases. Otherwise, the hotel is great value for money.

This was a real find. We took a couple of days to escape from our holiday apartment near Perpignan and drove up to Montpellier, where the weather looked better (as it often is). I picked up their little brochure from the tourist information desk in the city centre It's tiny (12 rooms on two floors) and had just had a cancellation for that evening ("our best room") so we took it. It's a 2 star hotel, but is really an upmarket luxury B&B, with the best and biggest rooms priced at 110 euros. It's a beautiful old building, which was a family house until the mid 19th century. The room is spotless and well-equipped (though the separate toilet lacks an extractor fan. The air conditioning in our room wasn't working as we arrived, though workmen were engaged on the problem, and was only sorted five minutes before we left the following day. However, we received electric fans and copious apologies and Madame gave us several small gifts (all edible) as compensation! Breakfast is exceptionally nice and is served on a small tree-screened terrace. Free car parking is a boon. It takes some finding from the city centre (we did it on foot) and the one way systems are an intellectual challenge. Once parked, you can walk to almost anywhere in the Old Town in ten minutes or so. Several of the smaller and cheaper rooms overlook the Rue Lakanal, which can get rather busy in the morning and consequently noisy. The best rooms overlook the Rue Achille Bege or the terrace. Not what you expect to find in the middle of a bustling city like Montpellier. We shall return!

Lovely location in the Old Town of Montpellier easy walking distance to local attractions, city centre, restaurants, Cathedrals, church's etc. Good tram service, also parking available at the Hotel. It is a really nice B&B very welcoming and helpful and help with reservations, maps etc. We had a ground floor room very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice and even though it was March the weather was nice so we sat outside. The next day the owner had made us up a table outside which was thoughtful when my nephew came she gave them coffee and no extra charge which was kind of her. I would stay again plan going there in September :)

Another good recommendation from Trip Advisor. We had good luck emailing with the helpful hostess to reserve our room as we did not have a France cell sim card. Definitely needed our GPS to find the place and appreciated the free parking. Walked around the neighborhood and found shops for cheeses, pastries, fruit, and olives. We wanted to stay again a few days later but the hotel was full, not surprising given how much the guests like it and the economical rates . The hostess put is in touch with another place--could not ask for more helpful service.

The B&B is well located in a residential area of Montpellier but within walking distance of local boulangeries, conveniences stores, restaurants, bars and the local attractions - cathedrals and city centre. The main city centre is probably about a 15 minute walk away.

Our room was on the ground floor and was spacious and very clean and opened out on to a sectioned off outdoor seating area. Inside the room was a very comfy bed, dressing table, tv and fridge. The bathroom was large and very clean with modern appliances.

The owners were very welcoming and helpful - one night we decided to have a bottle of champagne we'd bought in our room so they provided us with some champagne flutes. They also assisted us with restaurant reservations and local area recommendations.

Parking on the property is great - theres a spacious car park at the front of the property but the entrance way can be a bit tight when the car park is full but this wasn't a problem.

We didn't have breakfast here but from what I saw it looked very nice with a lot of options!

I would definitely recommend this B&B as a perfect base for visiting Montpellier city centre and the nearby beaches!

A trip to Montpellier for the opera took us to this charming, quirky Art hotel. The converted C18th maison is ideally situated in a quiet area near to the efficient and convenient tramway. Despite a somewhat late arrival, our charming host found us a restaurant to lunch in...and even called ahead to say that we were en route!. Our room (Room 9) was spacious, comfortable and had lots of character. The main staircase in the hotel is itself a work of art. As other reviewers have noted this is a 2 star property and may not suit the international traveller. However, if like us, you appreciate character, history and a hotel that is very French, then this is the place for you. Breakfast was excellent, parking convenient and we left feeling well rested, happy and grateful that such hotels really do still exist. Thank you...we will return.

Room Tip: The hotel has no lift, so choose a room on the first floor.

This is my second stay at the Hotel du Parc. It is a converted mansion from the 18th century in a very quiet neighborhood. It is a 5-minute walk from the Ecusson (the ancient city center), The hotel is also a 5-minute walk from the Faubourg de Boutonnet, a charming little street of local shops where there are no tourists, at all. Finally, the hotel is maybe 3 minutes from the essential tram line. The staff are very friendly and helpful and most of them speak English quite well (well enough to make a reservation by phone). This is a 2-star hotel, so it is not deluxe. But it is very, very comfortable (at the high end of 2-stars), the decor is absolutely lovely, the showers work (the water is hot), the breakfast is pretty good, and the rooms are surprisingly inexpensive. Also, free parking in the gravel courtyard. Not only that, the wifi is free and it works.

Room Tip: Rooms 8 and 14 have private balconies; rooms 9 and 10 are the largest; rooms facing the interior cou...
