Stumbled across this little restaurant along a quiet side street. The waiters were very polite and helpful (our French is rusty to say the least!). The food was tasty, plentiful and with a selection to suit most tastes and budgets (3-4 courses ranging in price from €15-€25 pp). A great find with a lovely ambience. Our only criticism-the chairs are a little uncomfortable!

This restaurant is on a quiet street where we stopped for lunch.

My husband was immediately disappointed by the lack of any good beer - he went with draught Stella.

We had large fresh salads , I had tuna, tomato and sweetcorn, my husband had a chef salad with Parma ham and cheese. Loads of lettuce filled the plates, one could not fault volume or freshness but both lacked depth in taste. At €29 for the 2 salads and 2 small beers we thought it expensive.

Service was friendly.

This restaurant certainly doesn't t serve sophisticated dishes, so if you are looking for haute cuisine go somewhere else.
However if you are looking for a restaurant with no pretence that serves genuine local food then try La Tomate, but please make sure you work up an appetite first because the portions are generous!
I had the crêpe, followed by the troute served with peas carrots and chips. As I said before the way the food is presented is rustic but the quality is good. Included in the 17 Euros menu there was a little plate of cheese and dessert....it was a struggle to finish! My hubby had the pepper steak as main and was happy with it ( he opted for the 22euros menu).
Service was friendly and helpful, ambience cosy...if you are hungry La Tomate is the perfect choice!
