“A treasure”

We stayed in room 302, top floor with a balcony, large room well put together, large bathroom, very comfortable. parking 10E night which seems reasonable and secure. Walking distance to place de la comedie and therefore everywhere. Breakfast is 12.50E/ person so make sure you have a large appetite, other wise venture out and find a cafe if all you have is coffee and croissant
Overall very pleased with our stay.

Room Tip: Room 302 or any of the top floor suites.

When we arrived at the hotel we had an extremely warm welcome. When we looked at the hotel car park (yet another tortuous type for larger cars), we, although competent drivers, were not in the mood for a struggle, so we parked in the street for a mere 2 euros, which was fine. Although I had requested a room with a balcony it was not possible and I was informed to that effect by the hotel and before we arrived. Our room was on the ground floor near to reception and the road, which we would not have chosen but there were various conferences taking place in Montpellier and so choice was certainly limited.. The room was on the small side but well equipped although we soon discovered that the air-conditioning did not function apart from an occasional cool waft! There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There were quite a few rather noisy people staying at the hotel and we soon realised that the sound-proofing was inadequate. Because the air-conditioning was not working, we had to open the window and were consequently awoken yet again, this time by very early morning street-cleaning and other traffic. We were up at 0700 so even earlier interruptions were not exactly welcomed. We did mention the air-conditioning to members of the morning team but we, having already paid the night before (122 euros) and being in a hurry to avoid the traffic, left.
That said, the hotel is situated in a quiet-ish residential area, near to the tram stops at Coram and on to the City Centre. There may well be better rooms in the hotel in which case maybe our experiences would have been better but sad to say we would not be able to recommend it, even with such charming staff.

Room Tip: Above the ground floor and away from the road.

What a wonderful find. This hotel is in a very quiet residential area, yet only a very short walk to the historic city centre and a tram stop tomtake you to all the city centre stops. Rooms were very well appointed and the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. A hotel to certainly go back to again.

My daughter and I had a lovely five day stay in this hotel while she was setting up home at a nearby university. It is located a five minute walk from Le Corum tram stop, which made it an ideal base from which to explore Montpellier and to visit the university (which is around 10 minutes away by tram). The hotel staff were all very friendly and really helpful, giving us lots of useful advice on where to go, how to get there, where to shop etc. Everywhere in the hotel seemed to have been freshly decorated and certainly our room was fresh and very clean. The bathroom was contemporary and a good size. We took breakfast on two of the five days we stayed and this was enjoyable and there was plenty of variety although, as other reviewers have commented, it is maybe a little expensive. That said, Montpellier is perhaps not a city to visit on a budget so I doubt the price is out of line with other hotels in and around the city centre. I will definitely be staying at Hotel Ulysse again in the near future.

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor and had a small terrace garden.

Thank you Tripadviser for a perfect recommendation! I was looking for a quiet comfortable base for a week as i was joining my daughter for her final week of intensive French studies in Montpellier. we needed some comfort, quiet, good coffee, strong internet and clean pleasant surroundings- all not too far from the centre of town given our tight schedule. Ulysse has it all and more-.excellent service. always smiling, multilingual, superb housekeeping and great advice at all hours. add to this the excellent, almost copious breakfast by French standards and you have a gem. Additional benefits - great secure off street covered parking. now if only they had bicycles....and a swimming pool!.

Room Tip: We had a triple ( Room no 2010) even though we booked a double- this wsa helpful given that we had m...

What a find! I booked this hotel NOT having been to Montpellier. We were meeting our university student daughter, studying French in the South of France. Poor child. But that's another story. I am the primary travel agent for our family and I'm pretty skilled at this. We were SO delighted with our (my) choice. The hotel is in a prime spot near the City Center and the Place de la Comedie, which is the hive of activity and entertainment for Montpellier. Our room was pristine and well ordered. I never understand about travelers complaining that European hotel rooms are small. Want big? Book a modern chain. The young woman who greeted us is absolutely the most charming, enthusiastic hostess we have ever encountered. She is from South America and her ability to interact, speak with fluency in several languages and her focus on the wants and delights of guests was superb. Truly. The breakfast, despite another (incorrect) review of this hotel on this site, was more than adequate and identical to the ones offered in Paris hotels. Again... The hotel provided numerous varieties of yogurt, cereal, bread, fresh croissants, cheese, juice, a multi-flavor hot beverage machine and every kind of condiment. We were more than satisfied with the buffet prepared each morning and the cheer with which it was served. The staff are ninjas. We never saw a housekeeper, but our room was always refreshed by fairies while we were out. We would definitely, absolutely, certainly, happily stay at this hotel again and we recommend it without reservation, no pun intended. Be sure to see my other reviews of French hotels. We had a time!

We stayed for two nights myself and three girlfriends and the service could not have been better.
It started when I rang to book when the girl on the phone could not have been nicer, then when we arrived she remembered details of our conversation , I was so impressed. The service once there was so friendly and good recommendation restaurant wise where we had a delicious meal. I would highly recommend this hotel which is owned and run by a delightful team.
Un hôtel géré par une femme dynamique et une excellent équipe , petit déjeuner excellent . Je n'hésiterais pas de recommander se petit hôtel .

Room Tip: All rooms are the same and it's a quiet location.
