This 3-star apartment/hotel has a tram stop right outside its entrance but if you feel like walking, it's about 10minutes walk through the Antigone Shopping Centre to the Plaze Comedie. In other words, it's a great location.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a one of the lovely reception staff, Renaud. He was very patient with us and happy to arrange many things for us.

The hotel was old (don't expect 5-start amenities) but clean and comfortable. There was fast wi-fi throughout the hotel. Overall it was great value for money.

Whilst their website is modern clean and slick, don't be surprised if your room doesn't live up to the impression given by the webite. This hotel is a far cry from its first flush of youth. Our room had chipped paintwork on the skirting boards, stained carpets, what looked like cigarette burns on the blanket, cracked sink and tiles in the bedroom. The bath was cracked and rusting. The shower head was clogged up with limescale and leaked. Generally speaking the rooms are a lot shabbier than they appear from the pictures on the website.

A special mention must be given to the fold-out bed. The website makes it clear that the smaller apartments have a settee that doubles as the bed so it didn't come as a surprise. What did come as a surprise was just how uncomfortable it was. While this might be acceptable for a domestic foldout bed that gets used a couple of times a year
for a hotel room, if you are offering a foldout bed as an alternative to a real bed it needs to be much higher quality than this.

This is an "Apart-hotel" rather than a full service hotel, the rooms are equipped with a basic kitchen and the idea is clearly that most guest will be doing some at least some self catering. There is even a laundrette in the basement. The hotel does offer breakfast but at €9 per head I wasn't tempted to try it so can't comment there.

Whilst there is plenty that I would take issue with it does have a number of positives that meant it just squeaked 3 stars with me. Compared with many of the other hotels in and aroiund the city centre the prices were very reasonable. The hotel may have been shabby, but it was generally clean and the staff pleasant and helpful. The final ace that this hotel holds is it's location. A very pleasant 5 minutes stroll from the Place de la Comedie makes this a very handy base to explore Montpellier and with tram stops just outside it's equally handy if you want to venture further.

There are lots of good reviews for this hotel, but many of them were written a few years ago. We've stayed here regularly over the past few years, and came back again this year. Unfortunately the hotel is not being well maintained, and is now shabby, with broken fittings and a feeling that its not quite clean. We booked in as a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters, one aged 16, and were given a room with a double bed and a pull-out double bed on the lounge. When we asked for something different we were treated badly and not offered any alternative. Very disappointed and won't be going back.

Stopped for one night to catch the Tour De France. Found the room had everything you needed to self cater. Clean adquately furnished for our needs although didn't spend long in the room. Tram stop is outside the hotel which is located amongst some grand buildings. There is also a small veg/ type market across from the hotel. It is easily walkable to the Centre or hire a cycle for 1 euro / 4 hours and see the City in half the time. It's also a half hour cycle to the coast along the river cycle path to Palavas. I would certainly stop there again if ever visiting again. Only criticism was there was only one pillow each and they were a little on the slim side.

Short tram ride or 20 minute walk from train station, rooms are clean and good size for a couple. Stayed in a double room with sofa bed. Only negative thing is the bed springs were squeaky and made noise every time you move and the walls and main door allow a lot of noise from other guests through. Central location for those who want to see city attractions and a convenient fruit market across the road for your breakfast. Would stay here again!

Montpellier was our last stop before going back to Barcelona. Our family of 4 stayed in a well appointed 1-bedroom apartment in Citadines. The room had a comfortable sofa with a pull out bed... perfect for our needs. All the necessary home appliances expected in a serviced apartment are there. Microwave could be better moved down though (placed high). Tram station right in front, but not noisy are all.. perfect again. A few stops from our station are the must see spots in Montpellier. And conveniently, the 'Gare' is nearby to hop on to a train and explore Sete on a day trip. Very limited service interaction with the staff but the beginning and end were important, and two thumbs up - fast, efficient, courteous, smiling, and helpful.
