In January, you have to walk through a delightful terrace to get to the restaurant. It must be lovely in the summer with shady trees and charming environment. Inside, the restaurant extends on three sides of a U. One side is open to many tables and is very noisy. We asked to be moved to a quieter spot and got a niche all to ourselves on the other side. It was perfect for a private conversation.
We did not get a look at the blackboard for the day's specials. It was gone 9.30pm so maybe they had all gone. We ate off the à la carte menu and because it was so expensive, only had a main dish. I chose a veal chop (26Eur) that came with mushroom purée and some tepid ratatouille, and chips. Veal should be an exquisite meat with delectable, tender flesh. This was not of that quality. Frankly it was almost tasteless, but there was a lot of it. The chips were fine, and we had a nice bottle of red from Aumelas. The meal came to 83Eur but it wasn't worth it. I could have done better going to my local butcher for a decent piece of veal and grilling it at home. Very disappointing. My partner had St Jacques on pasta (23Eur) and it was very bland, the seafood probably frozen and not very tasty.
It's a shame the food is so banal, because the environment is lovely. Not worth the money but the service was okay.
