“A real gem - go now !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

Remember those great smaller hotels that are family run, where the family were friendly, made you feel welcome, no fuss, no unnecessary fashionista frills just plain honest value in an outstanding location - make that an unbeatable location in Collioure - well this is it !

Booked for 3 days - loved it so much lingered a day longer - moved rooms - all were adequate in size, facilities. Brilliant views, get a balcony if you can. If not put the table by the window and pretend !

There is a terrace that is less than 10 steps to the beach. This end of the Collioure beach is great, a family place, not so busy and its sand underfoot very soon once you are past about 15m of rocks underfoot - but its just deep enough to swim out here.

Take breakfast on on the terrace and see Collioure wake up.

Quiet at night which is a boon. Enjoy the sunsets over the castle and town then walk along the seafront and enjoy the reflections in the water. We watched octopus and cuttle fish in the shallows at night barely 50m from the hotel.

Good restaurant next door - see my review. I want to go back as soon as I can. So good I have recommended to a family member who goes next week so lets see if they agree. Ask about the parking as it can be tricky to find. You can walk everywhere.

The wifi in the rooms was a bit iffy but managed to get by.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony (1st or 2nd floor)

The best thing by far about this hotel is the location. Just a few steps from a great little beach and directly overlooking the water and fortress. Rooms are clean and service is good. Balcony was convenient. Can eat breakfast in the room or on the terrace. Thanks Rick Steves!

Have just stayed for three nights, very very basic but charming and the staff were lovely, a good reasonable breakfast but no frills but stay in the front for the views. There is no lift so don't stay on top floor and no parking either, only ten minutes walk to many restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: With balcony or sea view on front but they have no lift.

I struggled with the decision to book here as I was booking for my group of friends: two couples and two singles. I said to them this was my fifth choice though the other options were either unavailable or seemed too long of a walk for some of us that are not so fit and the other hotels were also much more expensive, especially given their inconvenient location..

So, I kept coming back to the Boramar-- right on the beach on the edge of town and the view I wanted. The reviews were mixed. Amazingly it was very affordable--and sea view rooms were available. I knew I would love the place--but would my friends?

I booked four rooms-- one each for the two singles and two triples for the couples, thinking they would have more room. The big point is we all had a balcony and a view and value won out. I think we all loved it. It was fun to chat with one couple on an adjoining balcony that had returned after stopping the previous year. Last year they had planned to spend a few nights and ended up staying ten or so and decided to return again this year. I absoluitely understand that impulse.

We were still fit enough to climb a few flights of stairs--the rooms were very clean, basic, but the beds and pillows were comfortable. We each could watch the world go by and the sea was just out the door.

The hotel itself had a man; a woman and a dog that seemed to be part of its fabric. Breakfast in front of the hotel with the people walking by and the pigeons and their dog interacting was pure bliss. We were only there for three nights, but watching the old man and the sea come in every morning (a retired fisherman) as we awakened, going through his routine of securing his boat on the shore for the day as he had gone out before dawn then chatting with the hotelier and showing the fish he had caught for his meal was soul satisfying.

This is a small, basic hotel, not for people looking to complain. No elevator, tv in lounge only, you can prop the wide window doors open, and use shutters etc. Always kept clean, just repainted, , Wifi only in lounge downstairs-free parking within a 5 minute walk til Oct. 1. Not sure when it starts up again but there is parking on side streets. We go in Sept. Oct. and avoid alot of the heavy tourist traffic. The staff is wonderful, always very helpful no matter what language you speak/don't speak. Everything that "Jack from Holland" said is spot on. We love it and just left after 12 nights.

Since it has been build Hotel Boramar has never been renovated. The staff is friendly. The white walls are clean, but the furniture oldfasioned. The clean room is not big, but big enough for 2 persons. In the summer it's very hot in Collioure and it is a pity there is no fan or airco in the room. Because of it's situation (next to restaurants and a couple of meters from the beach) it can be noisy in the (late) evening/night and morning. The bathroom is small, but with a good shower. On the romantic balcony you can view people passing by. Breakfast is very basic, but reasonably priced. The view is amazing but the threes in front of the hotel are growing very fast and obstruce the view of the habor, the fortress and old city!

Stayed here for 8 nighyd. Best view in town, from the balcony you overlook Collioure and the fortress. Good beaches at walking distance. Nice owners, rooms are small but clean.
