This place is certainly back on form, and is one of only two restaurants in the Roussillon with a Michelin star. On the evidence of our lunch, it definitely deserves it.
The restaurant has a private terrace/ beach looking out on Collioure so the view is amazing. If it's cold/ raining and you have to eat inside, request a table by the window as those further back dont get the view, and the room itself isnt great.
We were there for lunch and had various menu options, starting at €30, with others at €45, €66 and a tasting menu at €95. We opted for the €66 for this special occasion, and it was outstanding.
Lots of little tasters to start, and a nice choice of breads. Red mullet with potatoes confit in bouillabaisse was outstanding, and chicken with morels was simple, rich and perfectly balanced. Presentation is wonderful, and the cooking is masterful.
Service was great - rather formal as befits the setting, but not stuffy.
Winelist is extensive, with plenty of options outside the region (although almost all French), which is rare around these parts. Prices are not cheap, but there are bargains to be had.
Overall a fine dining experience in classic Michelin star style, with classic French cuisine and a couple of modern twists. Hiighly enjoyable.

Our dinner last Monday at La Balette ranks as one of our best meal experience
The setting was beautiful, the service impeccable, discreet and courteous and most importantly the food exquisite. The presentation was artistry and the savours perfect. This was beautiful food , not pretentious but delicious and satisfying.
Well worth the Michelin star. We have eaten in 3 star Michelin stars not as good as this. We will make special trips back to Collioure to experience this again.

Excellent restaurant in a picturesque location over the rocks in Collioure with a delightful view across the harbour. We visited on the fete des meres when there was a single special menu. The food was of very high quality, especially the veal course. It is well worth its Michelin star.

One thing that it is helpful to know is that the hotel operates valet parking which is very convenient considering the nightmare of parking in Collioure.

Friday 1pm greeted as we walked up stairs from beach where we were greeted as if they knew we were coming.. Either English or French worked. Four of us had tasting menu and recommended wines (we chose local as we were offered both local and other). Each dish had eye appeal and eclectic ingredients. As one would wish, each plate was complex, diverse, and adventurous. Of note was the foie gras at the right done ness and temperature and the langoustines melting in one's mouth. Equally impressive was the dessert plate, cold ice cream a tea and cake with Creme and raspberry and chocolate and who knows what all. Service was invisible until needed ,it then appeared magically. As good as NYC and more reasonable.

I'd first like to say that in reading the other reviews, I'm most surprised to see that other diners have mixed reviews on the service staff. I thought that the collective group of well dressed waiters were exceptional in service, manners, knowledgeable in the food and preparation, and went out of their way to explain the courses in French and English. First advice, make a reservation and ask if parking is available. They have limited spaces at the door, but will re-park your car while you eat. My recommendation, go with a set menu. You have several to choose from depending on your budget and dont forget to factor in the wine. It will easily cost you as much as another meal...or more. The dining area is not fancy, but the view is incredible. Given the amazing food, I could not have asked for more. Michelin stars are not easy to get and La Balette certainly deserves theirs. Although some would consider it pricey, for having a Michelin star, it is actually reasonably priced. I suspect the same restaurant in Paris would be double the price. Each course was a work of art in sight, texture and taste. Courses are not very large....but you have many courses! And that is the true fun...seeing what comes next. From the amuse bouche to the post-desert desert with the coffee... each course was flavorful and well prepared. There is a sommelier to help you select a wine to pair with your meal. We chose a mid-priced St-James and were very happy. We will definitely be back. La Balette was an excellent experience from start to finish.
