My husband and I spent the first week in May, 2013, with Nicholas and Isabelle at their wonderful guest house. This is a charming home , well located, with a lot of ambiance, and a delightful garden and pool. Our hosts were amazing in their generosity and helpfulness, and made our stay truly delightful. We indeed, felt like members of the family.

Nicolas and Isabelle are two of the kindest and most generous hosts ever. Their home is beautiful and very well located to see all parts of Carcassonne, both old/lower town and citadel. Easy walking to those and Canal du Midi. They truly go out of their way to assure that guests enjoy Carcassonne. The apartment/gite is fabulous and modern in an old stone building, combining ancient and modern amenities with top of the line appliances and laundry (line dry). The rain shower in the bathroom is wonderful though it may take a bit to get used to the gentle shower as some of us are used to more pressure, but the gentle shower is soothing. The gite overlooks the beautiful swimming pool and also has a sunny south facing patio and private entrance on a typical quiet French village street. 10 minutes walk to bakeries and cafes and farmers market on Tues, Thurs and Sat. We can't wait to get back again!!!!

Le 45 BB is on a main road, almost opposite the cathedral but there is not a lot of traffic and it is double glazed so no noise problem. It is about 15 minutes straight forward walk from the train station, 10 minutes by taxi from the airoport and there is parking nearby. It is close to both the old town and castle. The building dates from about 1830 and has been beautifully restored and furnished. The courtyard with pool is mich bigger than it appears in the pictures and is a sun trap but we only admired it from indoors in December. We booked both rooms. They are a similar size but one is divided into an anti chamber with a single bed plus the main bedroom. Both were lovely and warm during a cold spell and the beds were exceptionally comfortable with top quality pillows and bedding. Bathrooms are first class and modern. Rooms do not have TV's which we weren't bothered about but did have tea and coffes facilities which we really appreciated. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of home made treats. In addition to all this we had the most welcoming hosts you could want. We felt privelidged to stay here.

Room Tip: No fitness centre but great pool

The owners have done a great job renovating the property. They have a really beautiful house. They are renting out 2 rooms in their house and also the studio which is in the house at the other side of the pool. Only issue we had was that both rooms in the main house faced the street and at least our room (rose) was quite noisy as the property faces a busy street. We also saw the studio and it look great and is more private.

Room Tip: Spend more money and take the studio.

Two nights over a weekend to explore this beautiful area, was made extra relaxing due to the great hosts we had at Le 45. Home made breakfast goodies, alongside the regular crossiants! Super knowledge of the area, with spot on restaurant recommendations, for foodies! Highly recommend both rooms, hosts and location.

My wife booked this B&B after reading the reviews on here. We were not disappointed except to say we should have stayed for more than one night. There is plenty to see and do in Carcassonne and our hosts couldn't have been more helpful in recommending restaurants a places to go and visit. The breakfast is all homemade cakes pastries jams etc and Isabelle and Nicolas truly have created a little gem of a B&B. Highly recommended!

Spending only one night in Carcassonne, we had a great experience at this b&b. Isabelle & Nicolas have a beautiful home and were warm, kind hosts. The full breakfast was excellent with homemade baked goods & jams, french pancakes, yogurt, fresh baguettes with cheeses-- delicious start to the day. The b&b is in a great location and we enjoyed our leisure walk to the medieval castle & 'la cite'.
