The house is everything the photographs promise. It is clean, comfortably furnished and well situated for both La Cité and La Bastide Saint Louis, both being an easy walk. There are good local shops around the corner. My only reservation is, if, like me you drive a large 4x4 parking can sometimes be difficult. That said the road cleared after 5.30pm
Beautiful house very clean and comfortable. In a perfect position for walking to the Castle. Jason was very friendly will definitely go again.
Newly renovated, fully equipped (with great AC) Townhouse located just a few minutes walk from the Carcassonne Cite. A parking place, just outside the front door, is available for those driving a car. Jason, the owner, is most accommodating and will personally greet all visitors upon arrival. I would recommend this location highly.
Just arrived home after the most amazing week in Carcassonne. Staying in Jason and Annette's home was the icing on the cake! It really is in the perfect location to explore the Cite and the Bastide (the new town) The Cite is a 5 minute walk from the front door, and the Bastide a 15 minute walk across the bridge.
The house itself is just wonderful. Spotlessly clean, modern, very well equipped if you're planning to cook. It's also very spacious, no chance of getting under each other's feet. We loved sitting out on the decked area for breakfast. Shops are a few minutes walk but it's also worth walking into the Place Carnot to see what's on offer at the local market. There are beautiful gardens and wooded walks along the river just 5/10 mins walk away. The beautiful old bridge, that are in the iconic photos of the views of Carcassonne is also just along the road. Keep an eye out for the delightful Coypu's in the river as you cross the old bridge into the Bastide. I could go on and on about the wonderful things to do in Carcassonne but the main point is that our trip was made complete by this wonderful house and its amazing location! Thank you also to Jason and Annette who were so happy to help with booking taxis for our vineyard trip and offering to make dinner reservation for our first evening. I would not hesitate to recommend your home and I know the rest of our party felt the same.
I find myself a little reluctant to write a review of this property, as it strikes me as a wonderful secret, which I don't want to be booked out every time I try henceforth. Everything about it is just perfect for a holiday visit. Having spent two weeks there, I am not sure there could be a better location, whether you want to hunt Cathars, explore vineyards, or just lie down outside on the private terrace with a good book and the ambition to acquire a sun tan. From there, we watched the Bastille Day fireworks - political opinions on the French Revolution are irrelevant here - the fireworks were amazing!
The house itself is extremely well finished, particularly if you are a bit of a 'foodie' - everything required is there, right down to the three whetstone knife sharpener and electric milk frother. There are great food shops nearby, including an excellent and very friendly butcher one minute's walk away, the extremely helpful (Spanish owned) Vival Fernandez grocer next door (which, as well as everything else, sells a great selection of cheeses) and L'Ancestrale, an artisan baker which sells fantastic breads and cakes. A well-stocked Geant supermarket is 5 minutes away by car.
The rest of the facilities are great, too: spacious rooms, all with air con, two bathrooms (and a WC), garage, decent wifi, private terrace, washing machine, dish washer, TV, etc etc.
The property manager, Jason, is one of life's good guys: extremely helpful, friendly and informative. Thankfully, we did not need to ask for his help during our stay, but I have no doubt he would have stepped in, had there been the need.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this excellent property.
This well equipped and stylish house is ideally situated for visiting the sights of Carcassone and the surrounding area. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
