We dined with our UK and French family, some of whom live on Carcassonne. We are getting to know La Cite well, it doesn't need any recommendation from me, it is a fabulous place to visit.

The Comte Roger in within a minute or two walk from the Hotel La Cite. Like most premises inside walled city, it is compact with a little terrace which I am sure would be very pleasant on a warm summers evening.

We chose from the fixe prix menu, which had a adequate selection, and in the main well presented and enjoyable to eat. My wife's main course fish was tasty, but overcooked, although our daughter said it was one of the nicest restaurant meals she has had recently in France.

The wine list was fairly limited, but did have a good choice of local wines, from which we were able to select a few nice bottles due to our french family local knowledge.

A nice and modern atmosphere, all though some of the waiting staff were a bit surly, but I guess it must be hard work in a restaurant in such a tourist hot spot.

For those that know La Cite, if you are driving, and eating dinner, park in the car park which the Hotel La Cite uses which is a short but interesting walk around the back of the basilica but very near to the restaurant

This is a great restaurant,we arrived in Carcassonne early to find somewhere for dinner, and were able to get a table here without reservation. You just know by the service you receive and how the table is laid that dinner will be good the highlight for me was the wild boar stew, my wife had the cassoulet which she thoroughly enjoyed, starters and desserts were equally good.

We have been to this restaurant for more than 15 years. Consistently good, food is excellent so is the service. They also recommend very good wines to go with the food

As you may know the story in cassoulet is that the one from Castelnaudary is the original or the Father, Carcassonne's is the second or the Son and Toulouse is the third or the Holy Spirit. Our landlady at Chateau Canet and some friends who had been in the area a few years back both recommended this restaurant for cassoulet. Who were we to argue? We went for lunch after a walk around Le Cité. Our appetizers were awesome - my spouse had a Terrine de Noix de Saint Jacques (scallop terrine) and mine was a carpaccio of boudin with another sausage, followed by cassoulet for both of us. In a word, entrées were divine and the cassoulet sublime. We each had a glass of local rosé with that and some Pelligrino. The cassoulet was savory with enough crunch in the crust to off set the creaminess of the beans. Definitely to try. I also saw some men at a nearby table having a wild boar dish and they were exclaiming over it. We were on the terrace which is nice and I saw the dining room which is well appointed and lovely.
