Our stay in the Gité to the North East of Carcassonne was a relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings. The Drinkwaters are a lovely family that tended to us when needed and left us alone to our own devices when not. The property is being constantly improved even though it is delightful as it is.

We arrived on a very hot afternoon to be greeted with a cool drink and a welcome to our beautiful "home" for a week. Our kids (6,10, 12) were made to feel at home and we began to relax in an instant. Our gite was just as we expected it, and Denise, Michael and James provided a basket of goodies as a starter, and shared a drink with us and some of the other guests on the first night. The facilities were great for self catering (with a number of fairly close supermarkets to stock the fridge), and there were also some lovely restaurants in the villages close to Laure-Minervois. The pool was fantastic, and was a fabulous place for all the guests to enjoy and cool off in the summer heat, as well as chat and swap stories. The central courtyard was also a lovely place to have a drink, eat meals and enjoy the surroundings. The area was fabulous to explore, and there were so many things to do aside from just the wineries and the historic city of Carcassonne; including beautiful swimming lakes, villages, exploring canals, kayaking, picnics and hiking. What a lovely week we all had at Domaine de Palatz; and one day we hope to return!
