We had a lovely two night stay at the Cote Cite. the rooms had great charm and we were made very welcome. A little tricky to find, but the private parking was a huge bonus, and one of the main reasons for booking. Fantastic location for walking up to the old town, and also for walking across the river to the new town. The breakfast was good, but not substantial.

Good location, excellent breakfast. As others have commented, a liitle austere-looking from the outside, but very charming once inside. Free private parking. Simone very helpful despite not speaking English, but I have a little knowledge of French.
We were a liitle disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. There were long dark hairs on the bedsheets and floor which didn't belong to my wife nor I, suggesting that the sheets had not been changed or floor swept since the previous occupant(s). This was the only negative factor.

This was a wonderful chic B&B. Simone made us very welcome and her smile helped overcome our lack of good french. The location is terrific, being 5 min walk from the medieval city and 15 min walk from the Bastitde city. To be able to park in the courtyard was fantastic and a real plus for this property. The whole place was so delightful, wonderfully located and so......French !

Room Tip: Aim for a room facing the courtyard. It means you can have a window open during the night.

The street presence of this bed and breakfast is likely to cause some apprehension--never fear the interior is eclectic shabby chic. It has a very comforting interior design. Go through the entry gate on Rue Trivalle and you find ample free parking. The bed and breakfast is located within easy walking distance of the old castle. My wife and I stayed there two nights and we were well pleased with our accommodation. The breakfast was very good. The small dog that resides with the host is prone to excessive barking. He does not bite--at least he did not bite us--but he does not seem to like strangers. This is passing odd behavior for a dog that is continually confronted with strangers in a bed and breakfast. Notwithstanding, I would not be reluctant to stay there again. On the whole, our stay was a very pleasant experience.

The location is excellent for exploring Carcassonne and the medieval city. It is very important not to be put off by the decor on the outside once you get inside the doors the decor changes to quaint, shabby chic. Delightful ! My husband and I stayed here for two nights in the Alaric Room. We had a lovely four poster bed with the added advantage of ceiling fans if the nights became too warm. We ate in the medieval cite both nights and Cote City is a very short stroll from the Cite. It is also very close to the Pont Vieux - a pedestrian bridge to the new city and a great place to get a view on the Cite by night also a good view from the Pont Neuf.We also ambled down to the Canal du Midi and went for a trip on the canal. The staff of the tourist office gave some very good advise.
Simone has little or no english which is surprising as there were a number of English speaking visitors in Carcassonne. On the day we checked out she organised a taxi for us to the train station which was very helpful.
I would agree with the previous review "2happytravellers32" that breakfast could have had more variety - selection of Jams and breads, as I don't eat bread some fresh fruit would have been welcome.

Room Tip: Ceiling fans big advantage

A lovely old house, beautifully furnished and very well situated for visiting the medieval city. Very quiet - our room overlooked a couryard - so a good night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. Simone is so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. One small thing - anglosaxons would appreciate some fresh fruit and yoghourt for breakfast !

We used this chambre d'hote as a stopover between a week on the Canal du Midi and our flight home from Beziers. Don't be fooled by the nondescript facade on the rue Trivalle - hidden behind the large entrance doors is a tranquil inner courtyard, providing safe parking and a pretty outlook for some of the rooms. Excellent breakfast, and owner was very helpful in getting us to the station when the taxi we ordered was late. Would recommend this is a very quaint place to stay very near to the old city.
