“High-spec accommodation in a stunning location”
Reviewed May 29, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We stayed for one week at the end of May in the gite 'Calmont' - a two bedroom (both en-suite) newly completed gite. The location is stunning - rolling countryside in all directions and fabulous views from every bedroom window. The situation is tranquil but not too far (about 15 mins) from towns like Mirepoix with its medieval houses, shops and restaurants. The foothills of the Pyrenees, the coast and cities like Carcassonne and Narbonne are all reachable in around an hour by car. Cathar sites like Montsegur are within easy reach. There are plenty of quiet lanes and tracks to explore on foot and the nature (particularly wild birds and flowers) is breathtaking.

Andrew and Jo - the English owners (French spoken) - have worked hard to make the accommodation at Polfages comfortable, high-spec and well-equipped. They are a lovely family who are well-integrated into the local community and have a wealth of local knowledge to help a first-time visitor to the area.

Our highest recommendation is that we want to return!

“A taste official France”
Reviewed May 26, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

If you want either a place to base yourself for touring or a place for quiet relaxation, this is well worth considering. The gites are all beautifully appointed with stunning views. We stayed for a week and the owners who live in the adjoining house were friendly and always happy to help with their extensive local knowledge. We booked in for a meal cooked by the owner, superb fresh local food I would recommend you sample.

“Beautiful area, excellent accomadation with owners who welcomed you and were able to advise on all aspects of holiday.”
Reviewed November 22, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

The property is clean and homely with all the amenities that you would have in a first class rental property. Views are exceptional and there is a relaxing feel to the gite. Just what you hope for on a holiday. ! Able to sightsee or just relax overlooking the beautiful views. The beds and bedding are worth mentioning as they are superb !!! Lovely crisp clean sheets and a very comfortable bed indeed.

We also took the opportunity to enjoy a meal cooked by the owners (Andrew and Jo )whilst out there as advertised . It was delicious and I would certainly take up this option again .

Andrew and Jo were also able to help us with many hints and tips on what to see and where to go. Very useful when the area is new to you. They both made you very welcome indeed.

We will be returning in May next year. Already booked.

“Our visit to Polfage”

On our arrival to Polfage we were given a very warm and friendly welcome from the owners, Andrew and Jo, who then took us to our Gite. To our great delight the Gite was bright and clean and very very comfortable. Everything was easily accessible. the bed and bedrooms comfortable, the kitchen practicable . Our first evening we sat out on the terrace provided.
Polfage is surrounded by the beautiful undulating hills that proceed the Pyrenèes.

We highly recommend Polfage to any perspective holiday maker.

“Even better than the photos”
Reviewed September 18, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We stopped looking at other gites when we saw the photos on the website - the picture of the pool with the rolling countryside beyond looked idyllic. And we were not disappointed. The undulating countryside surrounding Polfages is really beautiful with its backdrop of mountains. The gite itself was lovely - spacious, comfortable and very nicely furnished with a large open kitchen and a patio/outdoor dining area overlloking the garden with views across the valley. We spent a lot more time at the pool and a lot less time sightseeing than we had intended because it was just so nice to chill in such pleasant surroundings. And Andrew and Jo, the owners, made us feel very welcome on our arrival and throughout our stay.

“Absolutely fantastic location”
Reviewed September 2, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Polfages is set in beautiful and tranquil surroundings, with views looking out and across to Black Mountain on the one side the Pyrenees on the other. The gite isvery well equipped, with large bedrooms and bathrooms. It provided everything that we needed. The pool offered a great opportunity to take in the sun and relax whilst enjoying the great views, most enjoyable. The owners were very helpful and able to points us in the right direction for many of the local attractions. Mirepoix is a traditional french market town with loads of medieval history and is only 10 minutes way by car and if you want to eat out there are plenty bars and restaurants to chose from. The city of Carcassonne is well worth a visit and again only 35 minutes away on roads which are a dream to drive on. Polfages is situated between the coast and the Pyrenees enabled us to have the choice of easily visiting the beach or the mountains. All in all a most enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

“A beautiful and comfortable gite with stunning views. A great find !”

A beautiful gite with outstanding views over stunning countryside. The gite has been recently refurbished to a high and very comfortable standard with all the one could need for a stay. Very comfortable bed and magnificent views from the terrace . There was a warm welcome from the owners who were very helpful in providing information about the area and amenities.

The pool is situated overlooking the beautiful landscape. The location is ideal for relaxing on the terrace and enjoying the views or an ideal base for exploring the wonderful area. The local town of Mirapoix is the nearest town and shopping area, a magnificent and historic town and well worth a visit. There is a very good market which is worth a visit. The surrounding area is fantastic with the coast only over an hour away and the Pyrenees less than an hours drive, fabulous for walking and great cycling countryside.

A fabulous gite to stay and relax and explore the wonderful and histrionic area.
