If you are looking for a place which combines great, tasty food and dedication to customers, make sure to stop for a while there. Benoit and Pauline made sure that not only my tastebuds were delighted with what I was tasting, but also that my poor french got updated to assist me further in my journey through France. To add to that, its location is perfect if you are on your way to explore the city.

We were staying in a hotel very close to the restaurant, and discovered it on our first night in Carcassonne. Benoit, the chef, and Pauline who own and run "le 37" made us feel so very welcome from the very outset. Although we made efforts to speak French, they were keen to speak in (very good!) English to us. The daily menu was very good value, using simple, good, locally sourced ingredients, simply but well cooked. On our second night, we decided to eat there again, not wanting to risk not finding somewhere so congenial or good value....and the same the next night! The menu changed slightly every day, and we were never disappointed by any of the choices. The fact that the apricot clafoutis appeared more than once for pudding was the highlight for my food-loving son!
We really enjoyed eating in the vaulted inside dining room; cooler than sitting outside in the evening heat; and very atmospheric.
Don't miss this lovely restaurant.

This restaurant is in a small street at the base of the La Cite castle complex at Carcassone. We had seen the place on a previous trip to this street, but passed it by because it had no customers where others had many. On this Monday night many of the other restaurants were closed, so like several other diners, we gave it a try.

We both chose the set menu at a very reasonable 14.50 Euros per head. The entree of melon and prosciutto came as melon balls and pieces of prosciutto in a glass - it was fine. For mains, my wife selected the sausage - one sausage accompanied only by a cup of mashed potato. Dry and not particularly tasty. My olive chicken was a little better, but came only with a cup of rice. Desert was a scoop of ice cream, with chocolate topping and a blob of canned whip cream.

The setting/atmosphere is ok - the street has a steady flow of tourists to/from the castle, mixed with the occasional car. Only issue were the lights - there are none except the street lights which are not well placed for reading menus or seeing your meal.

For 14.50 , you might ask 'what did you expect', but in my experience, restaurants either have proper chiefs who consistently prepare good, tasty, well presented food, or they do not. This one does not. It they don'y think they can offer good food for 14.50, then it should not be on their menu.

We will not be back to try the a la carte.

Thank you for your opinion about our restaurant. We are a bit surprised by your story, because when the waitress asked you if everything was okay, you did not answer... and now we can read on tripadvisor what you really thought about food that you had.
Sorry that you did not enjoy it, our saussage is the traditionnal recipe from Carcassonne and its area, maybe dry, but here, we do not eat it with any sauce! If you had tell to the waitress that it was too dry for you, she could have give you any moustard or something else.
Hope you enjoyed your trip in our lovely country!

Le 37 is a really nice little restaurant. If the street in which it's in is nothing special, albeit an important if narrow thoroughfare to access the old city, that restaurant is a low-priced gem.
The service is nice, and the interior very pretty, mostly in exposed stone.
We took the classic menu du jour, 3 courses for under 15€, with some choice, and each of them was light, tasty, yet filling, using fresh ingredients in a mediteranean fusion style.

Regional food and wine complimented by great service from Benoir the owner and chef and his staff. Locate on the road between the old foot bridge and the medieval city. The cheese and local meat platters are excellent with the local bread and wine.
