“Perfect location...”

If you wish to see all that this area of Languedoc has to offer, La Maison Des Vignes is a perfect location. All of the sights are within an hours drive or so and we took full advantage of this (3000 km in two weeks). We stayed in the Olivier and enjoyed its layout and privacy very much. It is expandable to an extra bedroom and bath, making it versatile for families. However, be aware that internet coverage is not available in this part of the property, which is very inconvenient at times. Jonathan ans Suzanne were excellent hosts and provided a great deal of useful information about the local area and made us feel extremely welcome in their gite.
If there is a downside it is the village. It is quiet in the extreme and that was fine with us...but would have loved a village restaurant or brasserie. Highly recommend this gite.

“My perfect piece of the Languedoc.”
Reviewed September 4, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This property is all that we anticipated and more. The gite itself was a lovely home from home with a fabulous pool. It was lovely to sit out on our terrace in the evenings with a local glass of wine and a good bbq. The holiday got off to a great start with a 'meet the neighbours' evening that was a real nice touch with wine flowing, local delicacies and friendly chat. The local area is perfect for a relaxing holiday in a tranquil village with the lovely sound of church bells on the hour, and a useful little shop for essentials, although there is a highly recommended shop at the local petrol station with an amazing butcher. We traveled to the coast a couple of days which took about 45 minutes to discover uncrowded beautiful long sandy beaches. The halles at Narbonne are also worth a visit if you like your food like we do!! If you get chance to visit the local chateau Festiano you will be made more than welcome by a lovely couple who were so hospitable and managed to sell us several boxes of wine!! Worth that 10 hour drive back to Calais!! Thanks Johnathan & Susanna for a great holiday and if you fancy a trip to Barcelona on the 27th let us know.

“Fun, relaxing and friendly”
Reviewed September 1, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a great week at La Maison de Vignes, we spent most of the time in the pool with our children aged 5, 11, and 13. We loved the warm welcome with an informal gathering on the first evening that helped us get to know the other Gite residents as well as determine the best use of our week regrading trips, restaurants etc.
Jonathan is a great host who helped make the stay at LMDV one of our best holidays. The gites are constantly being improved making it a great holiday choice.
Tourouzelle is a great location to explore the surrounding area and based on the guest book many have returned to LDMV on a regular basis, we may well join them in the coming years.

“Our 'go to' place in the South of France”
Reviewed August 27, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We have been to stay at La Maison des Vignes a number of times - so that speaks volumes about what we think about staying here. We have stayed in Gite Coquelicot (Poppy) every time and find it hard to square our experience with that reported by another reviewer. For instance, we love the balcony, don't find other guests intrusive and it is unbeatable as the sun goes down. Suzanna and Jonathan are an incredible couple, and incredibly welcoming and friendly, and as might be expected, a mine of information about the locall area and further afield. The area has something for everyone and this year we went a few more times to Leucate, where the far end of the beach closest to the oyster shacks not only had relatively few people on it (on a hot day) but has the best of the three beach restaurants. There is a terrific local market in Olonzac, the Canal du Midi is on the doorstep, fabulous wines, great countryside for walking and from my point of view, superb cycling (on and off road) with Jon willing to act as a guide. We find that we instantly relax and at some point we ask ourselves, does it seem a bit dull to keep coming back to the same place but quite honestly we haven't been anywhere better that meets our need to unwind and let the demands of daily life in the UK ebb away. It was the first year that our now 21 year old daughter hasn't joined us (work!) and she was disappointed. From a young teenager and now young adult perspective there has always been much to occupy her (including working on her tan by the pool). Oh, and if you can time a visit for live music in Carcassonne - there can be few better venues in the world. So you can see - all I need to say is...we keep going back.

“We didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a fantastic 2 week stay in Gite Lavande with our 3 boys (aged 4,7 and 8). Jonathan was very welcoming and we felt really at home. We particularly enjoyed spending time on our covered terrace where we had most of our meals and swimming in the pool. When we booked I was initially concerned about the lack of garden for the boys to run around (as boys do!) but this wasn't a problem at all and there was plenty to keep them busy. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots to see and do and we really enjoyed our cycle along the Canal using the bikes conveniently provided. The village shop is right next door which is extremely useful for morning croissants and bread, and the local markets and shops (less than a 10 drive away) provided us with everything we needed. We would thoroughly recommend

Reviewed August 17, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed for a week with three young children ranging from 9 years - 18 mths, the gite was well equipped, pool beautifully clean and warm, beds were amazingly comfortable, grounds well kept and the surrounding area was great for exploring. We had a great week, local wine in the village was spectacular. The Med only 45 minutes away by car, great cycling lovely family times. All in all great week.

“Lovely gites in a wonderful part of France”
Reviewed August 15, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This is the forth time we have stayed in these gites. From the moment you arrive you relax.Everything you need is here. The gites are spacious ,clean and well presented with a lovely pool and in a quiet village.Set in wonderful countryside you can explore other villages,or visit the larger historic towns. This part of France for us is magical.Jonathan and Susanna the owners are on hand if you need them, nothing is too much trouble. We absolutely love staying here, and can honestly say having stayed in several places in the surrounding area, some more expensive, these are far the best.
