“Fine for an overnight stay, close proximity to the Cite”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2014

Clean and well furnished room, but really on the small side, practically had to walk round the bed sideways! The bathroom too was very small and the shower (in the bath) pretty basic. Hairdryer annoyingly ineffective! That said, we encountered pleasant staff, the location is ideal for visiting the Cite, and as we were in Carcassone for a concert at the Festival, it was an easy walk to and from the Theatre Jean-Deschamps. Free car parking and nice swimming pool available. Price wise - reasonable for the location. Overall would recommend for an overnight stay, probably not for a longer break on account of the small room and bathroom size.

Very well located, at a very small walking distance from the medieval city. That certainly contributes to the reasonable price we pay.
For the rest, the room was very small, the air conditioning working erratically (from freezing to stopping) and the Wi-Fi simply dropped and was not accessible any more...
Breakfast reasonable but quite expensive!!!

Room Tip: But very poor Wi-Fi connection

This hotel is in a great location just outside the medieval city. The rooms may be on the small side but they're clean and have obviously recently been refurbished as has the rest of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful-there's a pool outside if the weather is good! Overall would recommend this hotel for a short break in Carcassonne.

My fiancee and I spent 2 months in Europe, 11 different countries and countless hotels, and were never treated poorly anywhere - until our encounter with the man who I believe is the owner of Hotel Aragon. We had a few questions and small requests, to which he didn't even attempt to be helpful, understanding, or friendly - but rather seemed to go out of his way to be just the opposite.

In my opinion, it's so easy to be nice and helpful - especially when you are in the service industry, that going out of your way to be rude and unapologetic about it is just not acceptable.

It's a real shame that this tainted our experience, because other people at the hotel were nice and the location was great - but otherwise, the hotel is just average: very small rooms, hard beds, breakfast not included. All things considered, I would recommend looking elsewhere. They were a few hotels nearby just as close to the fortress that might have owners who smile and help their guests.

Rooms on the small side and when we stayed the air con hadn't been switched on so had to open a window which would of been ok but from a security point of view probably not the best.
As other reviews location was perfect ,stayed within the Cite and found this hotel to be better value.
Breakfast was good , ample parking, fab pool and depending who you got staff pleasant.
There is no bar as such but they will sell bottled/canned drinks from reception.
Word of caution the bar/bb across the road charged us €10 for two small bottles of Heineken, found cheaper in the Cite.

I agree with the majority of reviews on Hotel Aragon, well located, very clean, and rooms are adequate. The room we had on the ground floor was maybe meant for guests with mobility problems as the bathroom had a large sliding door and plenty of room, problem was if you used the bathroom during the night it was difficult not to make a noise sliding it open, the shower was a bit strange as it was very low, I am not tall but it was in line with my chest.

Some improvement could be made to the breakfast, no hot items offered. I know continental breakfast is not like traditional British but for the price I do think even perhaps boiled eggs could be provided. Also no tablespoons to take cereal(had to use teaspoon) no spare glasses laid out.

These are not serious complaints and only mentioned as advice to the owners. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Carcassonne.
The pool was a definite bonus after a day walking about only problem it is deep all over(2m 8).

Room Tip: A room near the pool was good as we could nip in and out for drinks etc

Hotel Aragon was a real find and I chose it because of the free car parking and its proximity to the Citadel. I had only booked for one night but the city is so interesting and so walkable, the atmosphere and friendliness of the hotel staff so nice that we decided to extend our stay by one night. We had to swap to a slightly more expensive room but it had a balcony and a wonderful view of the citadel which is also lit up at night. The room is very clean and comfortable, good linen and a good hot shower. The breakfast is good too although the space is a bit limited when it gets crowded. I would suggest going early if you can. The internet can be erratic depending on where you are in the hotel but in the lobby it is fine. A useful hint for anyone who has been traveling for a while and is in desperate need of a laundromat, there is one in the centre ville, next to the Ibis Hotel on the corner of the big desolate looking square. Also be careful anyone trying to pull the gold ring scam on you.

Room Tip: The family room 121 is very nice and has a balcony with a view of the citadel.
