We have just returned from 10 wonderful days at Hibiscus House. It is located within a 25 minute leisurely walk to La Cite or a 20 minute walk to the centre of Carcassonne. We used the apartment as a base to explore the Languedoc-Roussillon area and loved returning home each day to the peace and tranquility of the beautiful garden and pool area. The off-road parking was an asset and we enjoyed walking to many of the fantastic restaurants each evening, experiencing the magic of Carcassonne once the many visiting tourists had departed for the day! It truly is a "Home from Home", wonderfully equipped with everything that you could possibly need for a great holiday. The apartment is large and spacious with a superb kitchen and everything was spotlessly clean! Wendy and Paul are excellent hosts and have lots of information to share about the Carcassonne area. They made us feel extremely welcome! If we return to Carcassonne again, we will most certainly stay at Hibiscus House!
It is a beautiful House that has everything you need for a great holiday. You don't have to carry anything other than the desire to have fun since it has everything. The owners are lovely and always respond to your demands. Last year we were there, on the month of December and we loved it so much that we are once again repeat to December 2017.

We have just returned from a very pleasant, relaxing stay at Hibiscus House. The house is comfortable and well equipped with many extras. The garden and pool area are lovely, an ideal spot for relaxing. Paul and Wendy were great hosts and the daily chats with Paul were brill! Thank you for your hospitality.
Where to start? Hibiscus house is like a perfect oasis! We loved everything about our stay and hardly left the apartment. Wendy and Paul were great and it was lovely meeting them. The location is perfect, between the old and new. The pool although small is just what you need to dip in and out of. The kitchen is a great space and came equipped with all you need to make a good meal. We cannot wait to return.
We have enjoyed a wonderful 10 days at the apartment which is very well equipped, spacious, and is well located for both the old and newer parts of the city.
Our personal favourite was definitely the old City, but we also enjoyed some of the local villages.
We had our little dog, Roxy, with us, who managed to use the pool a couple of times - as we did - despite the weather not being as warm as we would have liked.
Any lack of warmth, however, was more than made up for by Paul and Wendy who were friendly, informative, entertaining, and damn good company. We really looked forward to our daily chats, and Roxy would have happily stayed behind with Paul.
Many thanks and best wishes
Michael, Marian, and Roxy (the Russell).
We returned last week from a weeks stay at Hibiscus House. It is a beautiful property which occupies the ground floor of a traditional character French house. It is a very spacious, open plan living and bedroom area with a separate kitchen which is absolutely gorgeous! The view from the kitchen onto the patio and private swimming pool is also fabulous; decked with lots of foliage and pretty flowers. The living area has two very large leather sofas which were much appreciated after a day out and about walking. The location of this property is most convenient, being situated about 15 min walk to both the medieval city and the town of Carcassonne proper. We especially loved the medieval city which was oozing with character and almost fairytale in appearance. We enjoyed more than a few days walking around it and browsing the many shops and cafes. It was very busy at the weekends but much less congested with people mid-week. It is very easy to understand how it attracts so many international visitors as it is quite spectacular. We took a boat trip on the Canal du Midi, travelling through a couple of locks and it was a pleasant experience. We enjoyed a train trip out through various villages in the outlying area, stopping off at Quillan where the scenery was beautiful. This was a great deal, which only cost 1 euro each way for about 1 1/4 hrs train ride, but the return journey was by bus which failed to turn up. However, a very kind bus driver returned to pick us up to take us the 1 1/2hr journey back to Carcassonne with his coach load of French students, so we didn't end up being stranded. We had great weather for the whole week we were there apart from one cloudy day which was great for the 3rd week of September. Wendy and Paul Woodman who own the property were very friendly and helpful and Wendy even took me shopping to Lidl the day after we arrived. We appreciated this very much as we didn't have a car. There was wine, tea, coffee, water and milk for us upon arrival which again was a nice touch. We very much enjoyed our stay in both the accommodation and in Carcassonne and would recommend this place to friends. Wendy was also most efficient in correspondence when booking, and from beginning to end we felt well looked after. Thank you Wendy and Paul, it was most lovely to meet you and to spend time in your beautiful accommodation.
