Our stay at La Posada exceeded our expectations. Enrique and Lola have raised the high bar of excellence in hospitality. From the time of booking to departure, they ensured that everything was smooth, welcoming and enjoyable. Their place was impeccable, the view from the patio stunning and their service and attention to detail, second to none. They have the perfect spot to enjoy the Old City and new town. We wished we could have stayed longer. Our thanks and gratitude to Enrique and Lola for an unforgettable experience.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the room with twin beds.

Firstlly a big thank you to LechappeeBelle BNB for canceling our reservation just before our arrival date as we would not have had the pleasure of staying in probably one of the best BNB I have ever stayed in and there have been many. Hosts Enrique and his lovely wife Lola were amazing hosts. Enrique is passionate about Carcassone and it's history. Our room was wonderful. Bed was very comfortable. Squeaky clean bathroom and we had a view of the ramparts. Breakfast was great. Fresh pastries and yogurt. This is the only BNB at the foot of the old city and has an amazing view. Look no further. This is the place to spend you time in wonderful Carcassone. Thank you Enrique and Lola for making our stay parfait!!!

Enrique and Laurence are the best hosts. We stayed in mid October for 3 nights- a good length of time in order to discover this area. They made us feel like family - very welcoming and full of local knowledge. The B&B wis very well located and with great views of the old city. We would highly recommend anyone to stay here and enjoy the local hospitality. The bedrooms are very comfortable and finished off to a high quality. Thank you Enrique and Laurence!

La Posada del Castillo is located at the foot of the old medievil city of Carcassonne with very easy access into the city itself as well as being just a short walk to the 'lower' town of Carcassonne and canal du Midi. There are wonderful panaramic views from La Posada to the old citadel. Enrique and Laurence are exceptionally customer focussed, extremely helpful and very welcoming. The accommodation has been charmingly renovated and is quite delightful as well as being beautifully clean. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and both Enrique and Laurence could not have been more helpful and kind. A great experience. thank you, and we look forward to another visit sometime . La Posada is a beautiful property, in a historic and convenient location, with friendly and hard-working owners, Enrique and his wife Laurence. It is just steps from the walking path to the castle. The bedrooms are equipped with modern plumbing, yet decorated with charming textiles and furniture. Breakfast was excellent, local products, and sufficient even for me. Enrique went out of his way to take care of our needs. I recommend it highly

We chose to stay at La Posada based upon the Tripadvisor reviews we read, so we expected to enjoy our visit. What we didn't expect was the personalized attention that began when Enrique insisted upon picking us up (and later dropping us off) at the train station. We didn't expect that from the minute we stepped in the door, we would feel as though the only thing in the world that mattered to Enrique and Laurence was to meet our every need. This couple truly loves what they do and it pays off by making every guest feel special and important. Every detail is perfect - the atmosphere of their home, the food and drink, the history of the area, information about French culture and learning the language, etc. The warmth and good humor of this couple is genuine and rare.
We hated to leave, and hope to return some day.

The Posada is a beautiful B and B and we wished our stay had been longer. We arrived there at the end of a week's walking holiday and the welcome we received from Henrique and Laurence was lovely. They made us feel as if we were entering a home and not an establishment. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with charm, generosity and pleasure.
We stayed in the Saint Gimer room which was large, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The ensuite bathroom was the same and all was immaculately clean. The bed linen and towels were of excellent quality; there was a constant supply of bottled water which was a nice extra touch.
Breakfasts 'started at 8.30 a.m.'(such a nice way of putting it!) and were delicious: choice of coffee, chocolate, tea, yoghurts, fruit juice and assorted bread and pastries. Our hosts were always on hand with advice about restaurants and places to visit and, as previously stated, their wealth of knowledge about the whole area is amazing and anything they don't know, they found out for us!.
The Posada is ideally situated to explore the Cite (a few minutes walk) as well as the new town. We especially enjoyed sitting on the comfortable terrace in the evening enjoying an aperitif and nibbles whilst looking at the Cite's illuminated walls and chatting with our hosts before we went out.

We are already planning our next visit to the Posada,

Thankyou Enrique and Laurence!,

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
You will find this hidden gem tucked away in the picturesque quarter known as La Barbacane and it is here that visitors from all around the world choose to stay in the heart of Cathar country. Built on the site of the former barbican of the medieval City and at the very foot of the ramparts, both the City and the Bastide Saint Louis are easily accessible on foot. At the Posada del Castillo B&B , we are in a classified historical monuments' area so, although we do not have a swimming pool, we do have Carcassonne's Lake Cavayere 5 minutes away as well as the Mediterranean, mountain lakes, rivers and streams in close proximity. Although, being in a town and next to the Chapel of Saint Gimer, we do not have large grounds or parklands, we do have a cosy terrace and a private garden which offer our guests a truly unique view of the Cite. Indeed, the medieval walls, the Porte d'Aude and the Chateau Comtal are less than 100m away. It is the Porte d'Aude which evokes Carcassone world wide and it is this gate which is featured on all of the postcards and used as a backdrop in films and historical productions. ... more   less
