We thoroughly enjoyed our Vin en Vacance experience. Wendy was an excellent guide with an indepth knowledge of the wine industry and history of the region. She made our experience both entertaining and educational.
We started our day with a visit to an organic vineyard situated up high with amazing views and were given an opportunity to taste a selection of their wines. We visited the village market of St - Chinian and had time to wander around and purchase some of the local produce. From there it was off to lunch where we were served a delicious cassoulet (washed down by local wine of course) followed by a visit to a second vineyard. It was here I was introduced to Muscat wine with my favourite being 'Muscat on the Rocks'.On the way home we stopped off at the ancient village of Minerve where we had time to explore and learn a little about the Cathar siege that took place there 800 years ago. Fascinating!
Wendy tells us she has recently written a book which is currently being published. Given her extensive knowledge and ability to make it all so interesting I plan to buy one as soon as they become available.
Best thing of the whole day? Wendy managed to finally give me a true appreciation of how the flavours of different wines and different foods enhance each other!
