Owner description: Vin en Vacances is a vineyard tour company run by Wendy Gedney, an English woman with a passion for this wonderful area and its wines. Wendy is a wine teacher and during the tours not only will you have a thoroughly enjoyable day, you will also learn a great deal about wine and tasting. Her aim is to provide you with an experience that you can’t easily create for yourself and during the day you will explore the regions, meet some of the most interesting vignerons, taste their wines and enjoy a superb lunch. Wendy's tours always include other fabulous things such as a visit to a goat farm, a pretty village or olive oil tasting.

“A really great surprise!”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

As awful as it sounds, my husband and I are totally antisocial when we go away and so the thought of going on an organised tour was pretty terrifying .. fancy voluteering to spend a day of your long awaited holiday trapped in a minibus with a bunch of strangers!! well, our love of wine and lack of hire car tipped the balance and we succumbed to this - our inaugral group tour. As we mentioned in the title .. what a really great surprise the day was. Wendy was prompt, friendly and had such a great enthusiasm and knowledge that she made us forget that this was supposed to be something that we 'were not going to enjoy' and quickly we were taking in the views, understanding the landscape and how it contributed to the various types of wine. Following this was a great tour of a vineyard, tasting, talking and laughing. On the way to the afternoons setting we stopped off for half an hour at a local market and timed that perfectly to take us through to lunch in a fantastic old school house, with homemade wholesome food and more wine. Next, we quickly crossed the road for our next wine tour, more laughing, tasting and talking. On the way home we stopped off in a tiny little village where we all got out for a leg stretch and walk off some of our lunch. Everyone then managed to stay awake on the drive home - but it was a struggle - as the day had been long, filled with content, packed with information and most importantly was totally great and a huge surprise. I am not sure that we are now going to become fans of the group tour as we cannot imagine that this one was anything other than a 'one off', but at least it has shown us the art of the possible. So as much as it shocks us to admit it, we are now officially reccomending a tour!!

“Grand Cru in Carcassonne”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We were 26 people from vinklubben grand cru in Holsted who had Wendy to arrange a 2 day trip in Minervois and Lanquedoc area on the basis of Carcassone and we had 2 fantastic days with 4 wine tastings in various categories and we got our aspirations fully . We can only recommend Wendy. She knows what she's doing. Great knowledge of wine. Many thanks for some good days.

“Winery Tour - Domaine Gayda”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

We spent a pleasant 3 hours or so on this tour and were impressed by Wendy's infectious love and knowledge of vins d' Oc. It was a very personal and intimate tour. Wendy had a friendly, yet professional, relationship with the owners and staff at this vinyard. The knowledge I gained has already reaped benefits back home in Canada where I recently found a really good vin d'Oc because I knew what to look for. I anticipate another visit to Carcassonne and hope then to do another tour with Wendy.

“Good value, impossible to duplicate on your own”

I have a vacation house in the Village where Wendy is based- so knew her very slightly, but had not been on one of her tours- Did so finally out of curiosity and was very pleasantly surprised and impressed by her knowledge of wines, her contacts, and the very gracious but effective and efficient way she handled a group of 7. So, whether for personal curiosity about local vineyards, or having the responsibility to entertain visitors- Wendy is definitely worth calling.

“8 September Wine Tour”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

Wendy organised a bespoke tour for our birthday party of 22 people and we had a fabulous day in the Minervois region. It helped that it was warm and sunny but Wendy organised a very varied day in which we got up close with the vines and grapes, we visited a small independent vineyard, tasted wine at a bigger commercial vineyard. We also managed a little sightseeing and visited the lovely village of Minerve.

We were impressed by the way Wendy explained the terminology and mystique of winemaking in a straightforward way. She was enthusiastic and informative and made it fun. Though we were a bigger party than she normally takes she kept us all engaged and involved and managed the most boistrous of our party in a relaxed way.

The final thing I have to comment on was the fabulous picnic lunch Wendy arranged. We sat under the shade of the trees and tucked in to a gorgeous table of food, all freshly prepared and served. With wine naturally. Because I had expressed an interest in goat's cheese and honey, Wendy had gone out of her way to include a lovely platter of cheeses, with honey, alongside a fab selection of French cheeses. She even produced a birthday cake.

I can't praise Vin en Vacances highly enough. We were buzzing at the end of our day and it was one of the highlights of our weekend.
