Beautiful setting, great service, good food, reasonable prices. The restaurant is apparently the place where local residents go.

Tastefully furnished. Pity about the low quality disposable napkins and table runners. Excellent Soup d'onion!!

Adelaide was recommended to us by visitors from Australia that we met at dinner the night before. We joked that, of course, Australians would suggest a restaurant called Adelaide... but it turns out the restaurant is named after the street where it’s located in the old city of Carcassonne. (The street itself is likely named after Adelaide of Rouergue, whose husband Roger I was the Count of Carcassonne around 1000 AD).

The restaurant was extremely busy, but it didn’t take long to get a table for lunch without a reservation. The two servers were surprisingly efficient, considering how many tables were hungrily waiting for food. We ate outside on the patio. Perched on a terrace adjacent to the Chateau Comtal, the patio offered a breathtaking view of the chateau and its grounds. It was sunny but extremely windy, so we had to bundle up and hold tight to our napkins.

We both had the same prix fixe meal of goat cheese salad, fish filet main course and crème brûlée. The portions were surprisingly large, and while the food wasn’t particularly inventive, it at least seemed to be crafted with some care. The salad was quite good and the crème brûlée was amazing. We also shared a carafe of the house red that wasn’t too bad (although definitely not the best wine of our trip) and an after-lunch coffee. Considering the impressive location, the meal was affordable, tasty and filling. There are a lot of restaurants in the old city, but we have to concur that Adelaide is one of the better choices for budget-minded visitors.

Ate here on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Fast efficient service from the ever smiling waiters. Our meal Cassoulet and desserts were delicious. Wine was very nice and reasonably priced. We were served quickly. Highly recommend.

the menus are great price-quality. it is perfect for kids because they have pasta on the menu (cassoulet is excellent but not for kids), they serve fast and they don't get annoyed if a kid makes some noise. the staff is also very friendly and english speaking. it is nice to visit for dinner because you can eat outside beside the lighted stone walls of the fortress.
