My wife an I were back in France last january to attend the truffe festival in Sarlat and to visit Carcassonne. We rented an apartment in town for a few days. Our host recommended La Grande Bouffe for steaks. Now we been to France numerous times and I have not been very impressed with their steaks. HOWEVER, this place rivals my own cooking, which I might say is the best. This is a family run business; the father cooks, the wife waits tables and their two small sons politely watch the patrons, mom and dad from the rear kitchen area. Dad cuts the steaks by hand and cooks on a grill above burning coals. The taste is delightful! Good local wine is served. The location is on the Midi and family dogs are welcome to sit by their owners. I can't recommend this place enough, and is worth going out of your way for a fine steak dinner if you are in the area.
