This holiday hotel is about two kilometres from the ramparts of Aigue Mortes. The lady at the reception was less than friendly when we arrived at 1.30, and we were told that our room could not be occupied until 17.00, but she will let us check in at 15.00 – so we went away, and got our room at the appointed time. The rooms are of a good size, and decently furnished, including a refrigerator, very welcome in the summer hear. There is a very pleasant and good-sized swimming pool that makes this a hotel suitable for a brief summer holiday. There is free motel-style parking in front of the rooms, and there is a super market and a restaurant across the road. The hotel also has its own restaurant. All things considered, a pleasant and comfortable budget hotel.

Room tip: Ground floor rooms have a small patio and direct access to the pool

Room was clean and basic but there was a strong smell of cats. We wondered if someone before us had been travelling with a cat and we know that it is a very difficult smell to get rid of.

The lady on Reception was lovely and very helpful and spoke English.

The Restaurant was closed.

Aigues Mortes is a very nice old walled city and we have been there many times before. We had a lovely meal that evening in the city.

I love hotels when you have an external entrance to the rooms, halfway between a motel and a residence. They give you more independence. Swimming pool is visible from all the rooms and the centre of the town is not very far, just a five minutes walk along the lovely canal.

Breakfast is served at the nearby restaurant and is very rich, not very comfortable to reach when it rains, because you have to walk about 100m, but then it's worth the effort.

The hotel it's more like an american Motel, rooms are in the road floor, with front parking.
The breakfast is served from the bar right beside the Motel, is a self service breakfast, they only have some fruits and yogurt for satisfy my celiac problem.
No matter! Room was clean and basic, with directly access to the pool side.
Good for a short stay.

Dear Maica,

thanks for leaving a comment about your experience in our establishment.

It seems that you spent a good stay at the Royal Hotel, and we're pleased to learn your satisfaction.

However, your comparison between our two stars hotel and a traditional american motel is quite wrong. Our establishment offers you a good location, 10 minutes feet from Aigues Mortes, trough a nice walk along the canal. We provide you comfortable rooms, and good moment of relaxation by our pool. At last, our friendly staff is always available to ensure that your stay comply with your expectations. Hoping that you enjoyed all these benefits.

Feel free to renew the experience,

Bye,

We came across this town and hotel by accident, coming off the main routes. Not impressed at first by the look of the hotel, but tired after travelling far, so booked in. Room was quite plain but clean and comfortable.
