“Absolutely Stunning!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

I visited the Palace with my husband and toddler and it was amazing! The amount of gold used in the place is ridiculous! I found it so interesting to learn about the historical significance behind this building. I'd recommend watching the movie "Marie-Antoinette" starring Kirsten Dunst to give an even clearer picture of the historical events surrounding this amazing Palace & grounds.

The one thing I would advise specifically to parents is that you aren't allowed to take your stroller/pram into any of the buildings (you must leave them behind at the security gate), so definitely take a baby carrier for babies!

It's a little unfortunate that they won't allow strollers inside, as its a LONG way for little legs to walk and my poor daughter got VERY tired. Make sure you receive a security tag (number) from the attendants as there was much confusion (in addition to having an exhausted child) when I wasn't given a number and needed to collect my stroller back.

Aside from the horrendous treatment I got from the security team, it was a lovely day and definitely worthwhile seeing.

“The Hamlet is a Fairytale Land”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

I didn't visit the Grand Trianon, and the Petite Trianon is, well, "meh", but the Hamlet is simply beautiful. This, and the fountains are the best things in Versailles. It does take a while to get there on foot so consider taking the tram. The hamlet is deceptive. It looks small, but takes a while to explore. It is also easy to get disoriented on your way back to The Petite Trianon, so take your smartphone with GPS or follow a tour guide.

“Not worth the time”

Unless it was a beautiful day and you wanted to spend a full day at the palace, I did not think this was worth it.

“Marie Antoinette's Hamlet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

This is the most charming part of our visit to Versailles. A little village built for Marie Antoinette by Louis so that she could live like a commoner. I guess being Queen was a little stressful at time. You cannot go into the buildings but they are right out of a fairytale. We visited in October and the flowers were beautiful. A Must SEE if you go to Versailles.

“Better than the main Chateaux”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

We found this better than the main palace. Quaint, interesting and far less crowded. Definately worth the walk rather than the 'bus' but its a reasonable walk.
