“Unassuming outside, delicious inside”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

My husband and I visited Brasserie du Theatre based on Tripadvisor reviews, and I'm glad we did. We started with a delicious gazpacho with basil infused ricotta, then canard margret, and for dessert organic cassis sorbet with verbena scented peach soup...which I just decided to try as an experiment. Delicious! The wait staff was attentive, prices were moderate and food was excellent.

“Excellent food and Service”

Good food in an informal atmosphere. Menu more imaginative than some other restaurants. Our family enjoyed our meal here.

“Louis XIV's Favorite!!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This restaurant is certainly fit for a king especially on those occasions when the king goes in disguise down into the town to live among his people in simplicity and sample their hearty life. Here the king orders half a lobster and marvels at its presentation on ice and seaweed, dotted with the tiniest orange. He notices two things: 1) the succulent dishes of meats and fish and fowl being served all around him and 2) the almost magical care and attention to detail of the Maitre d'. One situation in particular caught the king's eye. Next to him a woman sent back her fish and when they brought it to her again, she again sent it back. Now, to the king, this said more about the customer than the fish, but the Maitre d' was so unruffled and professional. He wanted to make the woman happy and, on the third try, he did. He even offered her a free dessert for her troubles. The woman was delighted and ended up having an effusive conversation with the Maitre d'. Now, while the king might have administered justice in a completely different manner, he couldn't help being impressed with the graciousness and care the Maitre d' bestowed upon all who entered his domain. The atmosphere is warm, the food is market fresh and perfectly prepared, and the service is definitely worthy of the Palace. This place rules!

“Good food and great atmosphere”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

They do have an English version of their menu but this doesn't have a touristy feel. There were French and Americans dining close by and good ambience.

the food was classic with good quality ingredients and simply good preparation. the service attentive without being intrusive. the tables are close to each other so when very busy some diners may not like this. To book it is easy through their website. The flambé creme brûlée was good but the portion size defeated me after an excellent fillet steak - chateaubriand

“Our best experience in Versailles”
Reviewed May 15, 2012 via mobile

We arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday to a full restaurant of well dressed locals and several families. We appeared to be the only English speakers but were warmly greeted, and seated. Service began immediately while an English speaking server was produced to explain the french menu. Suggestions for specials and the daily offerings were given and described. We took the reccomendations and only added a side of vegetables to our Grilled sea bass, all of which were excellent. Beautiful presentation, careful and attentive service made this a delightful and delicious experience. After we had the opportunity to try our food the Maitre D arrived to ask if all was acceptable. He returned at the end of the meal to offer small talk and inquire about our visit to Versailles. All in all gracious hospitality, as the staff were better dressed than we were on a cold and rainy day. I would not hesitate to return to this charming restaurant.
