We booked a four hour tour of Versailles at relatively short notice, late on a Sunday evening. Nothing daunted, Private Tours Paris came back to us with an immediate, helpful and courteous response. Over the course of the following week we exchanged emails twice, and on both occasions Private Tours Paris were prompt, helpful and completely unphased by the lateness of the hour or the day of the week. Magic service.

Came the day of the tour, and we quickly discovered our guide (Corinne) was a fluent English speaker, but also charming, cultured and intelligent. She could not have been nicer or more considerate. It was as if we had known her as a friend for years. Magic service.

The most useful feature of the service was the provision of head sets - so wherever we were, in crowded and busy rooms surrounded by chattering tourists - we could hear our guide's helpful commentary and instructions. As the 'photographer' in the family, I tend to get a little absorbed and dawdle, but I was never out of touch. Magic service.

I discovered Private Tours Paris while researching and planning a trip to Paris for my family. We are a small family of three with an 11 year old daughter. I am a self-described information gatherer and therfore a lover of tours. I also am one who can't stand waiting in lines....as a result, this was a fantastic solution for our Paris adventure. We took the Paris discovery tour on our first full day (after jetlag recovery) to give us a wonderful big picture overview of Paris. This provided the information needed to know where to go back to spend more time. We were in Paris just short of two weeks. I requested 'Marlene' as our guide because I read about her excellent ability of engaging kids on the tours. She was no less than brilliant. Not only was she amazing with our daughter, but she knew just the right amount of info to impart about everything to keep all three of us engaged in exploring. Marlene showed us all the highlights of Paris and explained history, customs and traditions, current events, etc. She explained the public transportation, gave us endless tips for the rest of our stay, and taught us so many things. In addition to the Paris discovery tour, we took a tour that was half day Giverny and half day Versailles. Marlene gave us all the insider info, knew the shortcuts and scenic routes to everything, chose fantastic places to stop to eat on the way, and became our personal photographer so that this trip we actually have photos with all three of us included at the same time! Our daughter is a fifth grader studying Latin. What was unexpected, but fabulous, is that Marlene built on her knowledge of the Gods and Goddesses in art, architecture, statues, etc in Paris and Versailles. She catered to this special interest as we visited the rooms in Versailles. It was so much fun to see this learning and knowledge come to life in unexpected ways. Fascinating conversations came to life about musicians, artists, theater, history. Marlene picked us up from our Bed 'n Breakfast on the outskirts of Paris and escorted us everywhere. She knew where to park and dodged every line with her professional guide's pass. We slipped into Norte Dame and Versailles with no wait whatsoever. If you want to truly experience Paris on your own schedule, timeline, and comfort, this is the way to go. Make the most of your time abroad. Have kids? Ask for Marlene. We are so grateful for our time with her!

We took up Tripadvisor's recommendations to do the full day so we could enjoy the palace, gardens and the chateaus. Glad we did. Our guide was especially patient and helpful with elderly members who needed wheelchair assistance. Very helpful to have a van to do a hotel pick up and drop off.

We recently visited Paris and booked a private tour to Mont Saint-Michel. Sim was our driver and he provided a safe, comfortable and knowledge experience the entire trip. He graciously picked us up from our hotel and drove over 250 miles each way with an extremely pleasant demeanor. Once we arrived at the breathtaking island, our dream of a lifetime began. Simone was a great guide, he informed us about the history, the spiritual leaders and the amazing invasions that were launched by the Norsemen (vikings), kings of the maritime world against the island. He provided insight into the amazing architectural buildings developed on the island. The story of Mont Saint Michel was an inspiration to the people as the collapse of the Roman Empire gave the bishops the opportunity to become the spiritual leaders. To visit the island is an enchanting experience, Simone's rich understanding of the area made the trip wonderful. He located a perfect place for lunch, the restaurant enticed us with oysters from the bay. Lunch was fabulous as was the service. Then, began the journey thru the entire monastery, churches and historic monuments, with Simone patiently providing information. After the tour, he allowed plenty of time to comb the stores and shops for souvenirs to remember the epic journey. I was amazed at his positive attitude and pleasantry during the long 14 hour trip. Worth every penny for the spectacular trip.

I took a private tour from this company to Versailles based on recommendations from this site. However, I was quite disappointed. It was very expensive and I didn't see any value in the tour. Our guide had poor english and was very hard to understand, I had to keep translating her english so my children could understand. Typifying the tour and her english was that we went through the hall of mirrors with out "Hall of Mirrors" being mentioned in a way that we could hear or understand. We also had to wait in the cold and rain for 15 min while she found a car park.

We are very sorry if you have been disappointed touring with us and we do apology.
Your testimony will be very useful for other travellers. Even if our guide had a very professional attitude, we would recommend once again our future visitors to avoid taking their jet-lagged kids early morning to an excursion which requires a minimum of attention. At least, allow them to have one day restling or choose a discovery tour of the city, certainly much more attractive for them
