“Can't recommend this lovely bistro enough”
Reviewed May 19, 2010

If you are in the area of Versailles and want a beautiful meal in a relaxed surrounding with lovely service then this is the place for you.
The decor of the restaurant is very calming and romantic. I went with my partner and two daughters last Sunday night. We were staying a 10 minute drive away from Versailles and could not get a taxi for love nor money. I phoned the waitress at the restaurant to apologised explaining that we would have to cancel the booking as no taxi would come for us - she had a taxi at our door in 5 minutes!
Best beloved had the most sensational tuna starter and myself and the girls had the largest tiger prawns we had ever seen. Main courses were lamb shank (cooked to mouthwatering melting perfection), steak, John Dory and Skate. All main courses were presented immaculately and were exploding with flavours!
Sweets were sorbet (selection of chocolate, passion fruit and lime - all fabulous), vanilla cake and cheesecake. We finished off with coffees and armagnac and the waitress booked our taxi home. Bill worked out at about £45 per head which I thought was very good value for a beautiful faultless evening!

“Fine Bistro”
Reviewed February 5, 2010

A better-than-average French bistro which has been in place for decades. Perhaps a bit heavy on good sauces, but offering dishes that are tasty and not overcooked. A few unusual items (thai chicken coconut soup) betray the restaurant's core expertise (fish, fowl and beef in classic preparations).

“My lovely French Restaurant!”
Reviewed November 2, 2008

Searching for a real taste of French Cuisine at the foot of the Versailles Palace?

Got one : Le Saint Julien!

The place:
The location is great, just few steps away from Versailles Palace. You can easily park your car for FREE in front of the castle as the car park is free of charge from 7PM.
Furthermore, the building is as old as the castle, with all the modern facilities which allow you to enjoy a good evening.

Management:
The restaurant is managed very well and the Chef is a real jewel. He is actually part of a cooking course in a university in Versailles.
It tells you a lot about the food.

Food:
Food is fresh, cooked and set-up very nicely while you can enjoy a very good Wine.
My favourite is the "Cornet de Gambas" and the "Crème brûlée à la réglisse"!! Love it!!

Prices:
Prices are fair ; you can eat for less than 45€, drinks included.

Enjoy!
